Chief Financial Officer
Our client, a growing private equity-backed $50 MM+ food processing business in Northern Michigan and upstate New York is seeking a dynamic, hands-on “roll up your sleeves” Chief Financial Officer with significant manufacturing experience some significant travel may be required to Buffalo NY.
The successful candidate will be in the unique position to use his/her skills, experience, and accounting/finance background to assess effectiveness and make recommendations for improvements to the CEO.
This position reports directly to the company’s Chief Executive Officer.
Specific Responsibilities:
– Ensure the Company’s financial results are presented in a timely and accurate manner, with proactive analysis and commentary included to support decision making.
– Manage the finance organization and the controls of the company to ensure the custody, maintenance
and safeguarding of the company’s assets.
– Develop tools and systems to measure important financial and operational information, and drive
performance metrics against both the annual budget and the Company’s long-term strategy.
– Provide analytical insight into: (a) key metrics and their impact to the business (b) results of ongoing operations (c) financial condition of the organization including cash flow analysis and forecasts and
(d) forward-looking marketplace trends.
– Serve as a key member of the Executive Management team that operates within the overall objectives and budgets of the Company.
– Manage all aspects of accounting including accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory and the monthly closing process.
– Lead all finance functions including treasury, tax, audit and information requirements for the Board.
– Serve as a principal financial liaison to the CEO and legal counsel to ensure all contracts and agreements are prepared in accordance with financial goals and standards.
– Ensure adequate liquidity for continued operations and possible planned acquisitions.
– Highlight opportunities for cost/financial improvements and effectively provide both advocacy and progress tracking toward successful resolution.
– Establish and manage credit policy and enforce collections while managing any security risks.
– Oversee the insurance policy renewals and benefit plans of the Company.
Education and Credentials:
– Prior executive finance experience at a company with a minimum of $40 million in annual revenue.
– Prior food company experience is strongly preferred.
– At least ten years of experience, including at least five years of management experience, ideally gained at a reputable organization.
– High level of integrity, honesty and empathy.
– CPA certification and/or MBA preferred.
– Strong collaboration skills including the ability to map out joint processes with other departments and collectively develop improvements.
– The ability to understand cash management decisions and effectively communicate these decisions and their rationale to stakeholders.
