Manager, Finance – Remote (East Coast Preferred)

The Manager, Finance will be responsible for delivering all internal financial reporting, forecasting, analysis and business insights needed to successfully manage Curia’s California site’s business operating performance. Working in concert with Curia’s global shared services center, the position will also be responsible for overseeing compliance and accounting for the California site, ensuring compliance with Curia financial reporting and accounting policies and processes. This role will be a key member of the Curia leadership team for formulation and fill-finish clinical manufacturing of injectables and will report directly to the Global R&D Finance Leader with a dotted line to the General Manager of Curia’s California site.
Responsibilities
• Principal financial advisor and business partner to the leadership team and General Manager of the California site
• Provide the management team with timely and valuable financial insights that support business decision making
• Proactively identify and communicate areas for operational and financial improvement with the business, leading to improved gross margins and working capital. Partner with business on initiatives that improve financial performance
• Perform monthly accounting, closing and financial reporting activities for the business including, but not limited to, revenue reporting/recognition, balance sheet accounts, product and project margin reporting and manufacturing variance analysis
• Lead the development and coordination of the annual operating plan for the business. Monitor performance and initiate corrective action as required. Drive adherence to monthly/quarterly/annual financial goals
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual forecasts as required to support the leadership team and meet all corporate requirements for the financial reporting and forecasting processes
• Play a key role in a successful integration of the California site (recently acquired) into Curia’s financial and business process, and IT systems
• Develop product cost standards and cost models for site. Analyze both product/project and customer margins to identify areas of opportunity and focus
• Develop and document standard financial processes. Improve the efficiency of the finance function through a focus on process improvement
• Direct responsibility for maintaining the appropriate environment of internal financial controls in all aspects of the site’s financial reporting. Ensure the consistent implementation of Curia’s accounting policies, accountable for the accuracy of site financial results in accordance with US GAAP
• 10-20% travel
Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required. Master’s Degree preferred
• 5-7+ years of financial management experience with demonstrated success. Site finance lead, manufacturing (cost accounting) and commercial experience required
• Experience in Financial reporting software such as Oracle and Hyperion Essbase/Smartview and a strong proficiency in Excel
• Strong business acumen and judgment. Ability to think strategically about business issues
• Demonstrated knowledge of US GAAP accounting standards, and proven experience in the application of such standards
• Strong business analysis, financial planning and reporting skills that generate business insights that add measurable value
• Excellent interpersonal, communication (both written and verbal), and presentation skills. Has executive presence and is capable of presenting to senior leadership
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a matrix environment. Maintains effective working relationships across the company, at the business unit and functional levels
• Possesses the behavioral attributes of the competencies in the Curia finance competency model: critical thinking and analysis, business insight, decision making, drive for results, financial expertise, project management and process improvement, collaboration and team work, and influence
