Job Summary
As the Senior Finance Manager at The Confluential Company, you will play a crucial role in managing financial activities, overseeing payroll, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), taxes, and working with our Physical Production team to manage production accounting. We are looking for an experienced professional with a strong background in finance within the media or entertainment industry. What You’ll Do
Oversee the payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely compensation for employees and contractors.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, including income, sales, and payroll taxes.
Collaborate with HR to address payroll-related inquiries and issues.
Develop and maintain financial models, forecasts, and budgets to support business decisions.
Analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide insights to improve financial performance.
Work closely with department heads to optimize spending and resource allocation.
Prepare and present regular financial reports to senior management, providing insights and recommendations for financial improvements.
Generate ad-hoc financial reports and analysis as required.
Prepare and file tax returns accurately and on time and collaborate with external tax advisors as needed.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
Proven experience in finance management, with at least 7 of experience in a similar role, preferably in the media or entertainment industry.
Strong understanding of production accounting principles and entertainment industry financial practices.
Proficiency in financial software and tools (e.g. Quickbooks), with advanced Excel skills.
Strong familiarity with the Black Love or Confluential Films brand, experience working at similar competitors or in multi-cultural content creation a plus
Knowledge of relevant tax laws and regulations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Detail-oriented, with a strong ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Strategic thinker with the ability to provide actionable financial insights.

We have embraced a hybrid work model, combining the flexibility of remote work with in-person collaboration. As such, we’re looking for candidates based in Los Angeles and willing and able to commute to the office 2-3x/week.
