Position Summary This position’s main responsibility is to conduct audits of the Credit Union to assess the effectiveness of controls, accuracy of financial records and efficiency of operations; provide documentation of the Credit Union’s internal control systems; report findings and assist the Internal Auditor in making recommendations. Keep information related to internal audit department tasks including audit/exam tracking and risk management up to date. This role requires attention to detail, excellent communication and credibility to ensure success. This role is considered an individual contributor within the Credit Union. Essential Duties Assist with the planning of financial audits by understanding organization objectives, structure, policies, processes, internal controls, and external regulations. Maintain complete files documenting audit procedures used, all completed audit reports and written responses to such reports. Prepare and deliver reports, both written and oral to management. Maintain effective communication with all employees to ensure coordination and exchange of information for accomplishing credit union goals and objectives. Work independently and as a team member, using discretion in decision-making and sound judgment, in problem solving. Use interpersonal communication skills to ensure personnel and member related issues are handled in a fair and professional manner. Maintain a high level of confidentiality relative to any information received directly or indirectly at all times. Protect the organization’s reputation by keeping information confidential. Keep informed of all regulatory and industry changes affecting the credit union. Act as a liaison between state and/or federal regulators and external auditors. Maintain the process of audit recommendation to implementation. Perform member center audits and report audit results to management. Watch for trends and recommend refresher training as needed based on results from audits. Conduct and report on quality control audits. Contribute to effective department and Credit Union operations by performing other duties as assigned. Education Associate’s Degree: Required Experience 2-5 years of similar or related experience 1-2 years of financial service experience Skills & Abilities Proficient PC skills utilizing Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Experience with Tandem audit software. Current up to date knowledge of regulatory/compliance requirements and a commitment to maintain knowledge of accounting and auditing rules and compliance regulations. Ability to coordinate and work on a number of unrelated functions and projects simultaneously. Ability to make sound decisions and to follow up. Ability to complete tasks with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to maintain a positive and professional image through effective verbal and written communication. A high level of reasoning and organizational skills.
