THE POSITION
Would you like to have a good paying summer job located outdoors? Do you want to make a positive impact on our state parks while keeping visitors safe? The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Bureau of State Parks, is looking for a responsible person to fill their Lifeguard position during the summer season.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Performs public safety work patrolling, observing, directing, and monitoring a swimming area at a State Park to maintain order and to ensure visitor safety. Scan swimming area to prevent accidents and be prepared to respond to visitors in the event of an emergency. Recognize when swimmers are in distress or need assistance. Administer first aid, artificial respiration and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), including adult, infant, and child CPR, to injured park visitors. Inspect the condition of buoys, floats, ropes, first aid equipment and supplies, and other safety equipment to ensure it is in proper operating condition. Take water samples, read meters, and record information.
