City of Watford City Looking for City Finance Director at Watford City, ND Full Time

The City of Watford City is currently accepting applications for a Finance Director. This is an advanced executive professional with administrative work in directing the accounting and finance activities for the City of Watford City, North Dakota.

Work includes developing, establishing and coordinating the policies and philosophy of the City’s finance department.  Position acts as the City Accountant and performs reconciliations and journal entries including all high-level accounting maintenance, conducts bond sales, grant writing, and maintains responsibility for the City’s internal financial controls.  Work also involves managing all of the City’s assets, subsidiary, and general ledgers.  Position will also be responsible for the development and oversight of the annual budget, and coordinating the annual external audit. 

Education/Experience

• Possession of a bachelor’s degree in accounting, or closely related field and 1-3 years’ experience in municipal or public accounting, preferred Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and experience in supervising professional and clerical financial personnel; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

This is a 40 hour per week position with a salary range starting at $85,000 and up depending on experience and qualifications.
