Grades: C41-C42 C41: $27.32- $38.25/ hour ($56,834- $79,567 annual), C42: $29.45- $41.23/ hour ($61,261- $85,766 annual).
Pay dependent on qualifications and in accordance with Oregon’s Pay Equity Act.

Position Overview:
The Springfield Finance Department is seeking an Accountant who will perform a range of professional accounting activities, financial reporting, and technical support duties related to developing and maintaining complex financial records for funds, projects, grants, or other accounting entities. This position interacts with other City departments, helping to manage budgets and grants. The Accountant position has responsibility for numerous funds from budget preparation through financial statement presentation.
An ideal candidate would be dependable, able to work independently, and make accounting judgements related to the treatment of transactions. Curiosity is a plus for this position, as it involves analysis and computer solutions.

Education/ Experience:
The City will consider any equivalent combination of knowledge, skills, education, and experience to meet minimum qualifications. Such a way to meet minimum qualifications could include:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, and;
• 0-2 years of experience performing more routine accounting activities such as: general ledger analysis, preparation of financial statements, and budget analysis and preparation (Accountant I, Grade C41)
• 3-5 years of experience performing the full range of accounting activities including: developing and refining policies, fixed assets and depreciation schedules, accounting and financial statements for multiple funds, and addressing department questions related to accounting issues (Accountant II, Grade C42)
Preferences may be given based on prior experience:
• Prior Oregon budget law experience
• Prior grant or governmental experience
