Summary
This position will be responsible for planning, leading, driving and facilitating the execution of a variety of initiatives and tactics supporting transformation across the CHS Finance organization. This will include enterprise operating model transformation, standardization and one way-of-working aligned with best practice, continuous improvement and data-driven analytics. The role will develop an end-to-end portfolio management process and will work cross-functionally with business partners in Finance and throughout the organization to review and prioritize a pipeline of change projects aligned with the Company’s strategic objectives and stated priorities. The role will also lead a small team of people dedicated to finance-focused transformation and change management workstreams with an emphasis on delivering results that improve controls, reduce risks, and improve efficiency and effectiveness across CHS Finance. This team will ensure that finance capabilities, technology and processes are aligned with enterprise standards, leverage best practices (including Lean methods and automation strategies), and are implemented within a system of strong internal controls and according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Responsibilities
Lead a body of work to define and implement the Finance operating model in support of enterprise Target Operating Model
Drive key Finance change management activities related to transformation including analyzing and recommending appropriate finance operating model and structures across Finance teams; and transitioning from legacy finance operations to target model processes.
Promote automation enablement of finance operating model by leveraging ERP capabilities and supporting tools (e.g. robotics process automation) that will drive efficiencies and contribute to a best-in-class finance organization
Create an end-to-end process for managing a portfolio of Finance action plans and projects, ensuring that delivery and approach are consistent with enterprise standards
Create Dashboards / Reports for the relentless, vigilant, transparent tracking of initiatives, progress and successes (proven out through objective and standard KPIs)
Assist in structuring and executing operational and strategic finance initiatives by developing work plans, gathering and synthesizing relevant data, leading analyses, and developing final recommendations
Play a leadership role in building and maturing Finance change strategies (including stakeholder analysis, change impact and readiness analysis, training materials, etc.) by applying a structured change management methodology and tools to multiple, complex transformational activities across the organization
Support the development and Implementation of Central Finance SAP system
Serve as a catalyst in interpreting functional needs of Finance teams and help translate into solutions
Support the standardization of data, processes, controls and policies across the enterprise in advance of SAP implementation
Build trust and effect change through proactive, candid communication and partnerships
Collaborate with external consultants and partner with cross-functional teams including Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A), Accounting, Tax, Treasury, Finance Shared Services, Financial Reporting and Internal Controls to optimize Finance transformation projects according to impacts, priorities, budget and resource availability
Influence decision-making and problem solving across projects and teams
Independently plan and lead prioritization discussions with Finance leadership and key stakeholders, working proactively to resolve conflicts between projects and manage competing priorities across the portfolio
Support Finance teams in the development and facilitation of training on new processes and ensuring buy-in across stakeholder base
Create awareness of the role and value of finance and celebrate transformation milestones
Build strategic message opportunities and leadership presentations relating to transformation work
Ensure transformation is sustainable by creating appropriate success measures including adoption metrics, delivering key business trainings and develop change agents across teams post program delivery
Support significant ad-hoc projects contributing to finance transformation
Streamline existing processes while advocating the use of Lean methods and tools
Demonstrate ability to pivot between a variety of project roles as necessary, while looking to take a hands-on approach to drive progress and add value
Continually evaluate opportunities to centralize and standardize process including Order to Cash, Procure to Pay, General Accounting, Accounting Operations, Payroll, FP&A, and Treasury to identify automation and enhancement opportunities that drive efficiencies
Minimum Qualifications (required)
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, Business, Business Administration, or related field
10 years of experience in Finance/ Accounting
7 years of experience with financial transaction accounting & month-end p/l activities.
5 years of leadership experience managing and leading teams.
Experience in leading transformation projects and organizational change management.
Experience collaborating with other stakeholders to achieve tasks (IT, Finance, Business Units, etc.).
Strong systems knowledge
Additional Qualifications
MBA, CPA, CMA
Lean or Six Sigma Certification
Strong SAP and JDE/Agris Knowledge
Ag/Energy related business experience
Prior transformation experience and dealing with extensive change
