Summary:
The Title 1 Teacher supports, supplements, and extends classroom teaching with small group interventions focusing on decoding fluency, comprehension, writing skills, math computation and mathematical thinking and reasoning.
Must be able to focus instructional efforts on the needs of individual students who are experiencing significant problems in academics.
Ensures that students receive exposure to core content skills and have adequate time to remediate missing or weak skills Essential Job Functions An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential duties:
Work with small groups of Tier 3 students on specific areas of weakness in reading and math Perform assessments and analyze data for the district wide initiative MTSS placement Assess the reading strengths and needs of students and provide that information to classroom teachers and principals.
Assess the mathematical strengths and needs of students and provide that information to classroom teachers and principals.
Collaborate with Teaching and Learning Coaches, classroom teachers, special educators, and guidance personnel, to identify students’ abilities to maximize learning opportunities.
Provide training and support for teachers and administrators in reading programs and literacy techniques as well as mathematical thinking and problem-solving.
Assist teachers in utilizing a variety of on-going instructionally based assessment approaches to inform and differentiate instruction and placement in RTI groups.
Attend parent teacher conferences as needed.
Meet regularly with classroom teachers to evaluate student progress.
Maintain all levels of confidentiality.
This includes students, personal, academic, medical, or family-related information.
Perform other duties as assigned.
