BlackWood Finance & Accounting is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our Colorado team. BlackWood is a professional services firm providing comprehensive back-office accounting and strategic financial management for small and emerging companies, entrepreneurial start-ups, and non-profits. BlackWood was founded in 2002 and has offices in Charlotte NC and Boulder CO.

The Staff Accountant will work with a group of client companies and will be responsible for tasks related to their general ledger transactions management (A/P, A/R, Payroll, etc..); month-end account reconciliations; monthly financial reporting; financial analysis; financial modeling; and process & procedures.

Specific tasks will include:

• Process & oversee day-to-day accounting transactions using QuickBooks Software
• Prepare month-end closing entries and balance sheet reconciliations
• Generate monthly and other scheduled financial reports
• Assist with the preparation of tax reporting (including sales tax)
• Follow and enforce the client’s accounting practices in accordance with established standards, procedures and laws
• Identify and work to implement business process improvements for clients
• Maintain accurate records and accounting and financial documents in accordance with defined standards

​Qualifications:

• BS degree in Accounting or Business Administration; CPA/CPA candidate a plus
• 1+ years accounting experience
• Proficiency in use of QuickBooks accounting software and Microsoft Excel
• High degree of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail
• Customer service orientation
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to function effectively within a collaborative team environment
• Quick learner and self-motivated
