Purpose Statement
Under the direction of the Business Development Operations Manager , negotiates the successful resolution and payment of outstanding receivables on behalf of BARR clients.
Essential Job Functions
- Manage customer setup, including billing, credit, and contact information in system
- Enter, update, and retrieve information for credit applications
- Review credit applications and perform credit checks.
- Process and reconcile account receivables and remittances
- Retrieve imported batches and apply cash that is imported daily
- Providing administrative assistance, such as writing and editing e-mails, drafting memos, and preparing communications on the team’s behalf.
- Post customer payments and prepare daily cash reconciliation report
- Analyze and assess the financial statements and credit history of existing and potential clients
- Develop and prepare spreadsheets and models to support analysis of new and existing credit applications
- Present analysis, findings, and recommendations to managers
- Reconcile credit files and identify discrepancies and variances
- Understanding of business, economic, and industry risk.
- Research and process customer adjustments and credits
- Research and resolve customer payment discrepancies
- Maintain and organize support for customer remittances
- Qualifies account information, by making outbound calls, and Input’s data into collection software and generates reports in a timely manner as assigned or as appropriate.
- Address payment issues like double payments or other discrepancies
- Monitor and take appropriate action to ensure payment or collect past due receivables
- Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
- Generate and deliver reports to different departments as needed
- Performs various clerical duties such as word processing, data entry, and typing.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education and Work Experience
- Must have a H.S diploma or GED.
- Must have at least 1 year of business experience preferably in the collection industry.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of and the ability to independently operate standard office equipment.
- Proficient in using MS Office and ability to learn debt collection related applications/software.
- Must have the ability to perform basic math (i.e. add/subtract/multiply).
- Using the English language, can read and comprehend written concepts, write business appropriate documents using correct grammar, speak so others understand, hear, and understand others speaking.
- Must have good interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with all levels of the organization and professionally represent the organization when speaking with clients, debtors, and others in or outside the organization.
- Must have strong presentation and negotiation skills as well as have the ability to exercise sound judgement and make decisions within the scope of the job.
- Ability to take and follow direction including the ability to understand and comply with company policies and procedures.
- Must have strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to establish and manage multiple and sometimes competing priorities.
- Must be able to exchange accurate information and frequently/continually communicates with others via email, fax and phone
- Must have the ability to work independently or as a team member.
