Who we are looking for:
The Accountant will perform varied accounting duties including accounts payable and receivable duties, maintaining spreadsheets and date entry duties. Assists with the administration of the day-to-day operations of the accounting department.
What you’ll do:
- Ensure Data Accuracy: Check that data is accurate. Conduct audits to maintain truthful and precise data in documents.
- Support Monthly and Annual Close Processes: At the end of the month or year, record information such as accrual, deferral, reclass, and interdepartmental entries into the company’s accounting ledger. Perform account analysis to make sure that entries and balances are correct.
- Reconcile Accounts: On a regular basis, reconcile accounts with the general ledger. Ensure that all entries are accurate and that transactions are reported in accordance with accounting standards and government regulations. When you find errors, make changes as necessary.
- Prepare Journal Entries: With appropriate supporting documentation, prepare journal entries relating to amortization, depreciation, accruals, and a variety of other information. Ensure that entries align with generally accepted accounting principles.
What you’ll bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in tax, accounting, finance or related field.
- Minimum 1-3 years’ experience in accounting/finance
- CPA and/or Master’s degree preferred.
- Extensive financial reporting experience.
- Self-starter, possessing a high degree of self-motivation.
- Experience handling special projects including strong analytical analysis and data driven presentation skills.
- Ability to rely on extensive experience to seek out and solve problems.
- Candidate must have strong excel skills-pivot tables, formula writing, etc.
Within 3 months, you’ll:
- Complete your Atkore immersion program.
- Understand how your job will help deliver Atkore’s strategy.
- Gain an understanding of your team.
Within 6-months, you’ll:
- Be working with the Finance team to implement processes and improvements to manage the functions listed above.
Within 12-months, you’ll:
- Creating and updating reports, training materials and documentation.
- Be able to resolve any issues quickly and safely
