JOB TITLE: Director of Finance
REPORTS TO: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
SUPERVISES: Senior Accountant/Technology Technician; Accountant/Database Manager
FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
JOB SUMMARY: This is a management/leadership position responsible for the operation of the centralized fund, budget, cost and related accounting systems for the Area Agency. The Director of Finance is responsible for directing the fiscal functions of the agency in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles issued by all regulatory and advisory organizations and in accordance with financial management techniques and practices appropriate within the industry. Work includes major responsibility for interpreting and implementing budgetary policies and procedures, for guiding support personnel in applying policy in budget preparation. The employee of this class will exercise independent judgment and initiative in developing procedures and in advising the CEO in all matters of a fiscal nature. This is a key employee of the agency.

PRE-REQUISITES:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, business administration or commerce, business education with substantial course work in accounting; including cost accounting. In lieu of a completed degree, at least four years related experience in administrative and supervisory capacity and a strong knowledge of governmental non-profit accounting.
Experience: Five years of professional accounting experience or auditing work including two years in a supervisory or administrative capacity.

Additional experience that demonstrates high integrity leadership, initiative, budget and financial skills, strong code of ethics, management and organizational skills and knowledge in government non-profit accounting. Job requires extensive knowledge of and use of computers, especially, Microsoft Excel spreadsheet program.
Physical: Reliable and predictable attendance is expected and needed for this position. Moderate physical activity is required. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing is required.
Travel: Some travel may be required.
