DUTIES AND JOB
Meets deadlines for established goals in an accurate and efficient manner for all areas of responsibility.
Provides support and assistance in developing and effectively communicating actionable information at all levels of the organization both internally and externally.
Reviews and validates financial information, assumptions and methodology based on a thorough understanding of financial concepts and working knowledge of healthcare principles
With continual job learning, applies basic knowledge of federal regulations and policies on research compliance to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial statements.
Responsible for interpreting grants and contracts executed in the Office of Sponsored Research and post financial activities related to these agreements in the PeopleSoft system, according to existing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Sponsor requirements as well as audit requirements established in the OMB Uniform Audit Guidance.
Coordinates and provides post-award activities including submission of financial progress reports, forecasting results, funding trend analyses, close-out, etc. to ensure adherence with award terms and conditions and institutional policies and procedures.
Prepare backup financial documentation and complete the schedule of expenditures of federal awards and actively participate in the annual external audit of funds received from the government.
Record revenue for the research departments: Invoice sponsors, Accounts receivable follow up, Balance sheet reconciliation.
Process study related expenses (such as payments to physicians, lab, pharmacy, imaging).
Serves as a liaison to Department Leaders in research finance matters.
Work with the operations leaders to review monthly performance and assist with analysis and revenue projections.
Assist research departments with annual budget preparation.
Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the department.
Self-motivated, detail-orientated, multi-tasker
Ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Understanding of double entry accounting and an operational understanding of routine accounting functions
Excellent communication both orally and in writing
Computer proficiency, particularly Microsoft Word, and advanced experience in Excel (V-Lookups, Pivot Tables, Index, etc.)
Basic knowledge of research finance
Basic knowledge and experience of clinical trials management systems (CTMS)
Familiarity with federal requirements relating to grants and contracts.
Basic experience in federal grant-related financial audits.
Basic experience in general business functions requiring interpretation of contract terms and conditions, financial analysis and/or responsibility for Revenue and Accounts receivable management.
