Barrington James Board and Executive Partners are collaborating with an innovative biopharma organisation with significant funding in 2023. With a broad portfolio across Oncology and Fibrosis, they are currently seeking a VP Finance professional to join the executive team.
Based in the East Coast of the United States, you will be bringing your broad financial experience to build and implement operations, strategies, and teams across Switzerland the East Coast of the United States.

Context to the Appointment
To date our client has managed its finances through an external accounting partner with Chief Operating Officer responsible for forecasting. The newly appointed VP Head of Finance will immediately be responsible for all financial operations and strategy. In the short-term external resources are available to support these activities however the VP Head of Finance will build their own team in-house to cover the key functions and activities. The tasks and priorities for the VP Head of Finance can be categorised into three groups:

Overview:
The VP Head of Finance will be responsible for financial projections, performance, and reporting as well as leading strategic activities and office operations., This key appointment will focus on the successful building and leadership of a new finance division. You will drive the evolution of the processes, policies, procedures, and systems necessary to support a fast-growing organization.
Job Functions:
– Visualise, create, implement, and execute all financial systems.
– To manage the finance functions of the company from both strategic and tactical perspective.
– To work closely with the CEO on the strategic vision of the company.
– Preparing and presenting materials and presentations to the supervisory board as requested.
– To assess the benefits of all prospective contracts and advise the executive team.
– To develop funding strategies and manage them.
– To assist CEO for evaluating the return on investments for new ventures.
– To develop and maintain systems of internal controls to safeguard financial assets of the company.
– Primary contact person for auditors, tax, and other financial advisors for all operational finance activities.
– Responsible for cash management, potential hedging strategies and other treasury functions.
– Build and direct departments to manage financial operations, accounting & reporting, internal controls, FP&A, tax, and treasury.
– To oversee accounts payable and accounts receivables and ensure timely actions.
– To be responsible for the financial accounting.
– To be responsible for regulatory compliances relating to finance.
– To be responsible for the budget analysis of the company.
– Ensure that there is a structure for the financial management team with clearly defined roles and responsibility to adequately support sound financial management.
– Regularly review and address the developments in financial management systems to ensure the most appropriate technological support for financial management practices.
About you:

– Experienced in financial planning and ideally accounting too. Strategic and tactical finance leadership experience.
– Listed company experience. NASDAQ preferable but any other exchange experience also valuable.
– Has experienced finance functions in the clinical stage biopharma industry.
– Experience of preparing an IPO desirable but not essential.
