Responsibilities
Serve as a Finance Analyst performing a variety of financial related functions. You will provide both specific and general financial,
accounting and analytical assistance for various department accounts/funds which could include compensation plan accounts, state
funds, sales & service funds, gift funds and contracts/grants. Support the department management in financial reporting and analysis, accounting, purchasing and reconciliation tasks. You will also perform annual budget analysis and input, as well as fiscal close activities. Monitor, reconcile and track account expenses, analyze trends, prepare non-payroll and payroll (academic and staff) documents and perform other activities related to compliance.
Under the guidance of the Budget Manager and CFO, you will distribute information in monthly and quarterly report cycles. You will also maintain all physical and electronic financial record keeping and assist the Budget Manager in being a department liaison for financial matters.
Salary range: $24.28-$48.04 Hourly
Qualifications
Ability to recognize implications, propose alternatives, and recommendations and implement solutions, analyze information to determine programmatic needs.
Skill in negotiating and exchanging ideas and information to formulate policies and procedures
Experience with University financial transactions including those related to UCLA Purchasing and Accounts Payable System (PAC), Financial Systems (FS), Payroll System (EDB), Financial Projection Module (FPM), Electronic Reporting System (ERS) and Query Data Base (QDB).
Knowledge of UCLA Health System Center organizational structure, clinical, research, and administrative departments strongly preferred
Demonstrated writing skills to compose logical, comprehensive and grammatically correct correspondence, procedures and reports.
Skill in using PC, Excel, Word, Outlook and other computer software products.
Experience in working with agencies and institutions related to medical research.
Working knowledge of principles of accounting and financial management. Demonstrated skill in financial analysis, planning, preparation and administration of multi-million dollar budgets with multiple funding sources.
Ability to establish, implement, monitor, and evaluate computerized financial planning, reporting, and management systems
Skill in budget preparation and management, preparation of financial reports.
Knowledge of university financial ledgers and accounting procedures.
Ability to work flexible hours to meet changing deadlines.
Demonstrated knowledge of University and federal contract and grant fiscal policies and procedures including proposal preparation requirements.
Bachelor Degree (preferably in Finance)
