Job Summary:

Volunteer Behavioral Health Care System’s (VBH) mission is to serve individuals, families and communities through prevention, treatment and recovery services, ensuring that help today leads to a better tomorrow. VBH is a leading provider of behavioral health services in Middle, Southeast and the Upper Cumberland area in TN. The Community Outreach Director (COD) will be responsible for outreach activities throughout counties in Southeast TN and the South Cumberland Plateau.
Position Overview:
The full-time Community Outreach Director (COD) will represent VBH and work with the leadership team to develop and implement initiatives to increase presence and visibility in the communities served, develop partnerships with organizations for workforce development and collaboration, understand the network of existing relationships and work to fill any gaps of coverage, and assist with staff outreach and development activities for the agency.
Job Responsibilities:
· Maintain a calendar of outreach activities, including community events, workshops, appearances, and other communication opportunities for the agency.
· Attend community meetings and events, and develop relationships with stakeholders.
· Participate in conferences, trainings and monthly Community Outreach Team meetings.
· Maintain strong communication with Center Directors, Program Directors, and other VBH staff regarding outreach activities and provide assistance where needed.
· Work alongside other outreach programs to include the Behavioral Health Safety Net (BHSN) for Children team as they are added to the agency’s scope of activities.
· Prepare content and messaging for various internal and external newsletters, media, reports, marketing materials, campaigns, etc.
· Nurture relationships with collaborative partners including stakeholders/media, etc.
· Schedule regular outreach exhibitions in the community and help to educate employees on community outreach responsibilities.
· Prepare accurate records and reports on the goals and objectives of community outreach.
· Assist in the organization of special events, including donor/volunteer appreciation events and other fundraising initiatives.
· Longer term goal of assisting with the creation of a foundation and implementation of a donor management system.
· Regularly work with leadership and HR on recruitment.
