Assistant Director- Finance
Department of Finance
Accounts Receivable Division
Number of Positions: 1
Under direction, this managerial position is accountable for senior manager level functions, duties and responsibilities, and part of a City department’s executive level staff. The position manages a major program or has direct responsibility for an operational or administrative work section within a department’s organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Manages collection programs to ensure efficient and effective processes are employed to maximize productivity and optimize revenue
Coordinates work efforts with management in developing strategic plans and implementing changes in staffing, operating procedures, and work processes designed to improve the administration of programs
Supervises staff and oversees day-to-day operations in a customer-facing Division
Creates and develops revenue generating initiatives, analyzes workflows and productivity, and implements technological enhancements
Manages vendor performance and contract compliance
Establishes work standards and evaluates staff performance
Prepares and analyzes reports on operational activities, productivity and performance management initiatives and makes recommendations accordingly
Manages noticing and collections for various types of debt
Conducts training sessions for team members

THIS POSITION IS EXEMPT FROM THE CAREER SERVICE
Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in a field related to the duties performed, including five years of work experience related to the position, of which two years are in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, provided the minimum degree is met
SELECTION REQUIREMENTS
This position requires applicants to successfully complete an interview which will include a written exercise and/or skills assessment as part of the interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, based on the oral and written parts of the interview will be selected.
Preference will be given to candidates possessing the following:
Master’s degree
Project management experience
Experience using accounts receivable and customer service software applications
Familiarity with the Municipal Code of Chicago and state and federal collection laws and regulations
