Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Director of Finance for an amazing nonprofit organization in Berkeley,CA. This is a hybrid role. 3 days in office and 2 days remote.
As the Director of Finance, you will report to the Chief Executive Officer and oversee all accounting functions and most HR functions for the organization! You will bring your financial expertise and management skills to supervise an Accounting Coordinator and help this organization succeed in its mission!
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Develop and present timely and accurate financial reports that are compliant and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles
· Develop and ensure internal financial and accounting policies that are compliant and implemented efficiently
· Collaborate with the Executive Director to create annual organizational budget and approve and monitor departmental budgets
· Lead the annual audit process, including preparation of all supporting information and consult with the committee and the external auditors as necessary
· Assist with budgeting for funding applications
· Document and maintain complete and accurate supporting information for all financial transactions
· Develop and maintain financial accounting systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, and petty cash
· Reconcile bank and investment accounts
· Implement variance reporting and review results on a monthly basis
· Prepare cash flow forecasts and manage the cash flow
· Oversee the bookkeeping function including maintenance of the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll
· Oversee the management of all leases, contracts, and other financial commitments
Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure that personnel and financial information is secure and stored in compliance with current legislation
Manage the acquisition of capital assets and ensure that assets are properly recorded, amortized, and disposed of as appropriate
Prepare annual charitable return in a timely manner as appropriate
