Kite Pharma, a division of Gilead Sciences, is recruiting a highly motivated Finance Manager – Business Development to join our FP&A team. This position will be based in Santa Monica, CA (could be based elsewhere for very strong candidates), and reports to the Senior Director of R&D and Corporate Development Finance.
Responsibilities of the Finance Manager – Business Development include, but are not limited to:
Serving as a key member of the Kite diligence team on acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, in-licenses, and other partnerships; this will involve working with members of Kite’s Business Development team and other business partners as well as external stakeholders during deal diligence, execution, and integration
Extensive partnering across a small, emerging, and high-functioning finance team to meet the needs of Kite Finance
Helping to assist on deal milestone forecasts and ensure prompt payments are made to/from Kite/Gilead in partnership with Kite Research Collaborations finance and Gilead Transaction finance and Treasury
Developing & delivering insightful and actionable monthly/quarterly management reporting and variance analysis and sharing best practices both within R&D/CorpDev finance and the broader Kite FP&A organization
Proactively identifying opportunities for efficiency and process improvements
Preparing ad-hoc financial analyses as needed; these could range from basic historical actuals reporting to more sophisticated valuation models to help prioritize investments
Liaising with business leaders across functions and representing finance in meetings and on projects
Basic Qualifications:
MS/MA in Finance or Accounting and 4+ years of experience in financial planning and analysis OR
BS/BA in Finance or Accounting and 6+ years of experience in financial planning and analysis OR
High School Diploma and 10+ years of experience in financial planning and analysis
Preferred Qualifications:
MBA or Master’s in Finance or Accounting and 5+ years of experience in financial planning and analysis OR Bachelor’s in Finance or Accounting and 7+ years of experience in financial planning and analysis
Within above experience, at least two years supporting Business Development efforts, preferably across multiple transaction types (acquisition, in/out-licensing, divestitures. JVs, etc.)
Intermediate to advanced financial modeling skills
Biotech, Pharma, or biopharma-adjacent industry experience is highly desirable
Experience in a high-growth and multi-national organization(s)
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are essential in this collaborative work environment
Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with minimal direction and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities
Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP)
Highly proficient in Excel and PowerPoint
Experience utilizing key finance systems and reporting software (ideally SAP, Oracle Business Suite, Hyperion)
