The Senior Accountant is responsible for general ledger accountability and financial reporting as well as financial profitability analysis. This role may lead and/or direct the work of Staff Accountants or Jr. Accountants.
This position will be a hybrid role located partially in our Independence, OH office and partially virtual.

* Maintains general ledger accounts to include the preparation of journal entries, coding of invoices, account analysis and reconciliation, closing books monthly, and setting up new accounts. Also, responsible for monthly or quarterly submission of assigned reconciliations into the Policy IQ system.

* Analyzes trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments and obligations then reports and makes recommendations to management

* Assists in special projects as needed

*Recommends and helps implement any necessary department controls
Qualifications
*Must be familiar with a variety of concepts, practices, and procedures in the accounting field including a general understanding of GAAP.
*Must be able to work independently and apply judgment based on experience.
*Must possess strong analytical skills as well as excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
*Bachelor’s degree required
*5+ years’ experience in the private accounting field or 3+ years in public accounting
