Job overview and responsibilities
The Analytics and Innovation (Ai) team at United Airlines works to innovate, transform, and solve complex business problems resulting in significant and measurable enterprise impact through the application of deep cross-functional business expertise and advanced analytics. We work with business and technology partners across the enterprise (e.g. Airport Operations, Contact Centers, Network Planning, Revenue Management, Digital Products, Human Resources, etc.) to influence strategic decisions, enterprise strategy, business process, and to help connect the dots across the enterprise. Team members within Ai partner with business areas to improve operating efficiencies of departments across the enterprise. Projects range in duration and complexity from quick analyses lasting two to three weeks to large scale transformative efforts that last four to six months. The team uses an array of analytical, technical, and consulting skills, including Lean Six Sigma, change management, time and motion studies, statistical data analysis, and the development and validation of operations models.
Engagement managers are typically responsible for leading project teams spanning across many of United’s departments.
Lead projects in conjunction with business teams to identify opportunities for improvement, gather and analyze information and data, develop improvements and innovations
Coaching project team members on their development; Conducting and/or support training of team members on Continuous Improvement tools and techniques in both formal and informal (just-in-time) settings
Working closely with business leaders throughout the project life cycle; developing and managing business leader relationships at Director/MD levels.
Leading and organizing large, cross-departmental groups through complex and strategic workshops. Groups may include participants at MD level
Developing and delivering story and presentations for report outs independently
Helping develop new projects and opportunities through research and analysis

Required
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in Engineering, Technology, or Business Administration
Experience in diverse (multiple business areas) continuous improvement portfolio implementation
2+ years of experience in Continuous Improvement or consulting
2+ years of professional work experience using statistical analysis
Project Management experience
Completion of multiple cross functional projects using Lean Six Sigma
Completed Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Training with successful exam from a recognized institution, and progress toward certification that includes a real-life project
Exceptional analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills
Demonstrated leadership ability in a team environment
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
