JOB SUMMARY :
Under general supervision the Accounting Analyst provides administrative, budgetary and workflow support to the finance department projects, and programs
This position helps to evaluate data related to projects and programs; develops, summarizes, and maintains accounting and fiscal related records
In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed below, the accounting analyst will obtain exposure and interact with all facets of projects and programs, as well as work with other cross-functional groups within the LA Metro and Home Office teams
This position works in connection with Think Together’s Director of Financial Planning and Reporting to support the projects and programs on a business level
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Participates in the development and administration of program and project budget, identifies, and recommends resolutions for budgetary problems
Prepares administrative and indirect cost allocations and assimilates final budget reports
Coordinates financial review with other departments
Assists with agency and affiliate audit processes
Assists and supports the Director of Financial Planning and Reporting in consistently applying cost effective and appropriate accounting and reporting procedures;
internal controls and quality controls, using latest General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Recommends effective and improved reporting, policy, and procedural changes
Conducts a variety of analytical and operational studies regarding departmental and programmatic activities, including complex regulatory, operational, or administrative issues or questions;
coordinates activities across departmental and functional lines; identifies and evaluates alternatives, makes, and justifies recommendations, and assists with the implementation of procedural, administrative, and / or operational changes after approval
Develops and implements file, index, tracking, and record-keeping systems; research records within areas of assigned responsibility to prepare reports and provides follow-up information to inquiries
Verifies and reviews forms and reports for completeness and conformance with established regulations and procedures; applies departmental and program policies and procedures in determining completeness of applications, records, and files
Establish, maintain, and foster positive and effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
Assist with month-end closing activities including journal entries, month-end reporting, and financial statement generation for budget managers
Ad hoc reporting and analysis as needed
Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS :
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university Professional experience in administrative, management, budgetary or financial analysis, or a related field may substitute degree
– years of accounting experience preferred
Techniques for providing a high level of customer service by effectively dealing with the public, vendors, contractors, and Agency staff
Plan, organize, and carry out assignments from management staff with minimal supervision
Perform responsible and difficult administrative work involving the use of independent judgment and initiative
Analyze, interpret, summarize, and present administrative and technical information and data in an effective manner through the preparation of clear and concise reports, correspondence, policies, procedures, and other written materials
Research, interpret, summarize, and present programmatic information and data in an effective manner
Establish and maintain a variety of filing, record-keeping, and tracking systems
Organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner; organize own work, set priorities, and meet critical time deadlines
Operate modern office equipment including computer equipment and specialized software applications programs
Use English effectively to communicate in person, over the telephone, and in writing
Use tact, initiative, prudence, and independent judgment within general policy, procedural, and legal guidelines
Knowledge of GAAP
Knowledge of fund accounting system preferred or ERP level accounting system experience
Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
Team player, self-starter with the ability to prioritize and multitask
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with varied members for staff and competing deadlines
Must have access to reliable transportation Some travel between program sites may be required
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES :
Maintain highest degree of confidentiality
Comply with organization policies and follow procedures
Must pass Live Scan (criminal background check via fingerprinting), provide a clear TB test
COMPUTER SKILLS :
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and Teams
Strong proficiency in the QuickBooks, ERP Accounting Systems, and or other accounting software
Adobe Acrobat
COMPENSATION :
Hourly Range $ – $
