Risk in terms of policies, producers, oversight (not i.e. market risk, credit risk, etc.)

Description:

• Role sits within the BRC (Business Risk Controls) Team which functions under the Asset Management division
• Team is the 1^st risk line reporting to global C-level execs
• Systems approache – risk areas i.e. cross borders, access management, controls automation (cutting across everything – huge effort with heavy focus on asset mgmt. – to try and develop more automated control – but not SaaS or java developers but helpful if they have some sort of experience working in Tech or IT background i.e. using technology for controls)
• Frameworks (BRC)
  • Risk assessments / self-assessments
  • Standard registration of risk needs to be evaluated
  • Identification of key non-financial risks for each division – expected to identify what key risk are (what controls will be implemented by the business)
  • Provide guidance of qualitative and quantitate analysis in terms of key non-financial risks

Requirements:

• Healthy 50/50 split between risk and controls related functions (but one more than the other could also work)
• 10+ years’ specifically working in risk and controls functions i.e. identification initiatives, projects, etc.
• Key risk on business with finance a background – know what risks might be and where risks lie within the business
• Initiatives and projects such as risk frameworks, developing identifying risks
• Self-driven enough with the ability to pick this up / hit the ground running
• Ability to absorb a lot of info quickly and understand how they want to put into the bank’s processes and documentation (looking for a contractor to be valuable resource to get these processes across the finish line rather than a consultant giving opinions; i.e. a Risk & Controls SME to flow into processes, frameworks and data in place)
• Compliance background is helpful

Responsibilities:

• Work with stakeholders across diffident regions (not only US or other region specific) – risk and controls across asset management globally
• Design, develop and implement controls to implement these risks
• Add-on functions, compliance and working with stakeholders for oversight functions
• Auditing and completing requirements while keeping the end-result in mind
• Look at risk metrics means of measurements within the business
• Risk assessments (mixture of identification and control landscape opening on current status of the business)
• Risk capital – risk measurement of divisional levels aka comfort levels form a business standpoint
• Control automation – plans initiated across regions – findings and remediation plans cross business/regions (come in and with this understanding for audit being done and finding need to be fixed)
• Implementation and driving projects toward completion
• Frameworks – control activity framework (bank wide controls frameworks i.e. focused on key controls design effectiveness – evaluating control design and make sure fit into the bank)
• Auditor standpoint – make sure adequate standards are meant
• Systems alignment assignment
• 3 systems managing data before March – data flow happening across from each systems (need clean up and data management across these activities)
• The bank has the book of work ready, projects and deadlines ready, what needs to happen, key things to focus on, key points
• Figure out any corrections that need to happen
• Documentation and design – defines standards and controls, what make a control key VS non-key, what the documentation standards controls means as far as what people are supposed to do and how the design of a control gets tested (would they be able to show satisfactory)
• Escalation or resolution procedures as far as control design
• Review and reevaluated existing controls – what automatons are overlooked and ensure steps are happening to document processing going in and thinking logically (i.e. if controls said do this this this but someone can’t do with without a systems running in the buckhound – identify what this system is and document controls)
• Cross-borders: look at multiple this from audit as well as review standpoint functions and reviews

• Oversight: what kind of supervisory processes are in place in terms of governance processes
• Assess Reputational Risk – drive reevaluating processes and really thinking about what kind of processes and control they want to have and implement with the business and compare to what processes exist now within the business

Job Description:
• Facilitating and coordinating risk initiatives with the identification of thematic views, top non-financial risks and key area of risk from both internal and external sources while proactively undertake related investigations and analysis to be included as part of the risk framework
• Responsible for the driving the Risk Identification Framework, Risk Metrics, Risk and Control Self Assessment, Risk Appetite, components of the Reputational Risk Framework along with a number of other risk related topics for AM globally
• Supporting management in identifying and preventing the risks resulting from internal processes, people, systems or external events to inform the controls framework
• Perform thematic risk reviews and measures/initiatives to address identified business risks, assessing business initiatives and existing controls from a risk perspective
• Perform reporting and global read-across analysis for the multiple RCSAs. Present findings of the RCSA at the Global AM Risk Management Committee.
• Work with the businesses and second line in implementing plan to mitigate / minimize the perceived risks.
• Work with the Controls Framework & Execution Function to identify and develop appropriate key controls for VeryHigh/High Risks adhering to CAF standards
• Undertake reviews for existing and emerging risks to perform, if deemed necessary, thematic deep dives of control coverage and effectiveness
• Undertake read-across analysis across AM globally taken from relevant controls related findings across Businesses and active Actions taken from the Monitoring of Internal Control System (MICOS) tool to inform the control framework
• Undertake reviews for existing and new key controls, and if deemed necessary, thematic deep dives of control coverage and effectiveness
• Drive key controls review, key control owner training and key controls owner attestation per CAF standards as part of the beginning of year activity driven centrally by NFR.
• Ensure controls remediation across systems is performed per exceptions reported by central NRF (ensure consistency across MARCS, GRACE, MICOS)
• Work with first line Control Owners to develop, design, and enhance controls
• High degree of senior partner engagement and interactions, including presenting at various governance meetings at the global, regional and legal entity level
• Partner and collaborate with AM BRC teams, Non-Financial Risk (NFR), Compliance, Legal, Risk and other second line functions as well as Internal Audit

Education/Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or related field required. Advanced degree preferred. MBA or CPA required.
• 10+ years experience required.
