The Nutrition Outreach Coordinator is responsible for the implementation and promotion of our community mobile market program. In addition to mobile markets they will assist in running any other special events for the Community Health department in a manner that excites and engages participants. This position is contingent upon continued grant support.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Implements a results-based approach and ensures service line/department is actively working towards association-level objectives by assessing progress towards identified goals/KPIs.
Effectively run and manage the mobile market program within the community. This includes heavy lifting and getting up and down trucks often.
Gather, sort, and organize food donations from agency partners in nutrition outreach hub.
Support and guide volunteers for weekly hub sorting, out at mobile markets, and for occasional group volunteer opportunities
Ensure respect, cleanliness and organization of the Nutrition Outreach Hub and mobile units, following ServSafe, NC Department of Agriculture and USDA-compliance standards and conduct regular preventive maintenance checks on all nutrition vehicles.
Build relationships with community members, health and other resource organizations and for referral and collaboration.
Develop meaningful and impactful relationships with recipients by taking an active interest in their activities, their emotions, and their needs.
Create marketing and educational materials using various methods and medias (e.g. fliers, blogs, social media posts).
Promote YMCA of WNC programs and services and connect community members to external supports through NC CARE 360.
QUALIFICATIONS
2 years professional experience in program leadership, and/or community engagement
Meet strength and lifting requirements regularly lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.
Requires strong organizational skills, prioritization of workloads in order to meet deadlines, as well as detail-orientation and conscientiousness.
Must have excellent interpersonal, public relations, and communications skills with strong understanding of participants’ cultures, values and health practices/ beliefs and
Must be willing to drive a box truck and completion of YMCA of Western North Carolina Driver Training upon hire is required
Comfortability in both office and community-based work environments.
Bilingual in English and Spanish, highly preferred but not required.
ServSafe or other food safety certification, preferred but not required
