PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Finance Operations Manager (FOM) is a strategic role within the Finance Operations & Transformation Team (FOTT) with several components:
Execution of FX hedging and development of FX strategy in collaboration with WV Treasury.
Business Partnership role to work with the Asset Management Team (AMT) to ensure that they are fully supported by the FOTT.
Development of global finance and balance sheet strategy with particular focus on the running and sustainability of the Global Centre (GC).
Assist in the implementation and running of the Loan Management System.
Initially focusing on back office processes until the LMS is in place.
This role has two stages, since once the LMS is implemented it will transform the BO processes and free up the FOM to focus more on the strategic.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Loan and FX back office process management and oversight:
Manage pipeline of MFI debt needs, VFI loans to MFIs and FX hedges.
For all approved loans and FX deals ensure that they are properly processed, settled, recorded and accounted for throughout their lifecycle
Manage collection and repayment of VFI’s loans to MFIs, involving frequent interaction with MFIs
The FOTT will receive the approved term sheet (in the case of loans) and it is their role to manage the loan from then on.
Development of Foreign Exchange (FX) strategy and execution of FX hedges:
The FOM is responsible for managing the FX exposures of both Global Centre and the MFIs. The role will therefore execute all FX hedges required, in collaboration with WV Treasury, seeking to achieve best execution and price.
Furthermore, the FOM is tasked with developing an effective, strategic and practical FX hedging strategy, again in collaboration with WV Treasury.
Development and Implementation of Global Finance Strategy:
Review, propose and implement a strategy for the flow of cash, capital, profits and funding within the Group thus enabling GC and the Group to operate under a sustainable model whilst making best use of charitable donations and grants.
This will include a full review of the partnership fee model. Once this work is completed, the FOM will be a key resource for more strategic projects as they arise.
Provide strategic challenge to the AMT’s use of the balance sheet to ensure that it is efficient and effective and that capital is properly deployed with the MFI Network and at GC level. Work as a business partner to the AMT ensuring that their requirements are met in an efficient, timely and correct manner.
Work to continuously improve the systems and processes of the role and team. Always considering and questioning what the best method may be for any given task.
Loan Management System Lead:
Work closely with the Business Analyst for the implementation of the Loan Management System ensuring that processes are properly implemented and that the user experience is enhanced. Once implemented, the FOM will take ownership of the system, overseeing all features and processes and ensuring that the latest upgrades are fully adopted where appropriate. The FOM will therefore act as key stakeholder in the implementation.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Bachelor’s or University Degree in Accounting or Finance.
Post graduate accounting qualification preferred.
Experience of managing back office processes for both debt and FX.
Must have experience of management of foreign exchange risk and development of FX strategy.
Must be cross culturally sensitive as will work with associates from every area of the world.
Able to balance Christian values with commercial practices.
Minimum 6 years of finance experience preferably in an international NGO environment, multilateral organization or an international audit/accounting environment.
Has experience in working with people from different levels and functions in the organization.
Has substantial and successful experience working in a multi-cultural, geographically dispersed work environment and is able to work with several functional managers or stakeholders.
Fluency in English.
Preferred:
Good project management and organizational skills; a balanced and respectful approach to teams’ differing responsibilities; good communication and influencing skills in both oral and written forms; effective coach – able to train people in VisionFund policies and procedures formally and informally; solid understanding of financial reporting and performance measurements and planning/forecasting; and consulting skills to be able to analyze, recommend solutions, mentor and direct people.
Work Environment/Travel:
The position requires ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
