The Finance Manager position is responsible for providing leadership to and management to WHN’s financial operations, and is responsible for assisting with the maintenance of WHN’s financial books and records, including ensuring compliance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations; providing financial information and analysis to WHN’s CFO, its Chief Executive Officer or the Board of Directors; managing accounts payable activities;
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for ensuring WHN’s accounts payable are current and accurate. Assist with the recording of Patient Service Revenues & Allowances; maintaining daily cash ledgers; and assisting in recording cash, credit card and EFT transactions, balancing cash, reconciling bank accounts, as well as depositing checks and cash.
At the request of WHN’s CFO, generates reports and offers analysis of report data. Assists with monthly financial reporting to WHN’s Board of Directors, its Finance Committee and other key entities; assists with regulatory reporting requirements – – i.e., Financial Status reports, UDS reports, cost reports and 5500 returns; and records the minutes of Finance Committee meetings. assist with the preparation of WHN’s annual budget; inputting budgets into accounting software; and preparing monthly Budget Variance reports for the Practice Managers.
At the request of WHN’s CFO, assists with the development or revision of policies and procedures related to fiscal management.
Participates in a Health Center “Facility Improvement Team” as well as supports all efforts to apply the principles of performance improvement/continuous quality improvement within WHN. In addition to the aforementioned duties, the Sr. Accountant prepares reports other documentation as required; attends meetings and training sessions as required; conducts all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and WHN policies and procedures.
Education, Experience & Training:
A. Education: a qualified candidate will have a Bachelors Degree in accounting or business administration is required; (graduate credit hours in Business Administration or Finance is preferred.)
B. Experience: A qualified candidate must have:
1) at least five (5) years of work experience as a Staff Account/Financial Analyst in an accounting position or equivalent; and
2) at least two (2) years of work experience in a health care setting, (Community Health or Primary Care preferred).
C. Training: a qualified candidate must have a working knowledge of at least one word processing software package (preferably MicroSoft Word) and one spreadsheet development software package (preferably MicroSoft Excel or MicroSoft Access). A working knowledge of at least one electronic medical record (EMR) is preferred.
