It’s an exciting time to join the Walkway Over the Hudson Team! We are seeking a highly motivated and goal-oriented Finance Manager to lead all day-to-day finance operations. The Manager (he/she/they) will have a unique opportunity to contribute in a multi-faceted role at the Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park Friends group.

Walkway Over the Hudson, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit group, works to support and improve Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park by raising funds to improve amenities and provide long-term stewardship to the park. Our mission depends upon engaging partners, donors, members, and volunteers who share our vision. With over 500,000 people visiting annually, half from outside the region, the park is a powerful economic engine, bringing new revenue, jobs, and taxes into the Mid-Hudson Region. Our supporters are given an opportunity to make a difference in the region.
Position Description:
The Finance Manager will be responsible for oversight of all finance, accounting and reporting activities, and will be involved in supporting presentations to the board finance committee and will work closely with the senior leadership team. The Finance Manager will lead all day-to-day finance operations including functional responsibility over accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and grants administration, will ensure that Walkway Over the Hudson develops and implements the systems and procedures in place to support effective program implementation and conduct flawless audits. The Finance Manager must be proficient in both QuickBooks and Excel. The Finance Manager will work closely with the Executive Director to explore how the finance function can support program operations.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Maintain all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate standards and regulatory requirements. Quickbooks is Walkway’s primary bookkeeping system
· Bi-weekly payroll processing
· Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and program budgets and actual expenditures.
· Coordinate all audit activity.
· Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes and report Walkway’s financial status.
· Assist Walkway Over the Hudson leadership in the annual budgeting and planning process; administer and review all financial plans and compare to actual results with a view to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate.
· Support the Executive Director in engaging the board’s finance committee, preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
· Monitor ROI and make recommendations on the efficacy of events, and merchandise.
· Oversee all financial, and event and program accounting; ensure that expenditures are consistently aligned with event and program budgets
· Manage organizational cash flow forecasting by working in partnership with the Executive Director and staff; continuously collaborate with staff Directors to assess the financial efficacy of program operations.
· Communicate with staff at all levels throughout the organization;
Candidate Requirements:
· 3-5 years of accounting and finance experience
· Minimum of a BA; CPA and/or MBA preferred
· Experience working for a complex nonprofit that has multiple programs
· Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and unwavering commitment to Walkway’s mission; a proactive, hands-on strategic thinker.
· Solid experience coordinating audit activities and managing reporting, budget development and analysis, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll, and investment accounting
· Technology savvy with experience selecting and overseeing software installations and managing relationships with vendors; advanced knowledge of accounting and reporting software including quick books and excel.
· Keen analytic, organization and problem solving skills which allows for strategic data interpretation versus. simple reporting
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills; the ability to communicate key data, including presentations to senior management, board, or other outside partners
· Demonstrated success managing multiple projects, comfort with re-prioritization, and operating with purpose, urgency, and accuracy in a fast-paced environment.

· Required to work occasional weekends and weeknights
· Will be in contact with others via face-to-face, Zoom, email and telephone.
· Must be able to lift to 50 pounds.
· Will require walking up and down stairs frequently.
· Ability to work outdoors.
