Wag! is looking for a Strategic Finance Manager to assist our CFO in spearheading Corporate Development & Special Projects. The individual will be responsible for identifying, vetting, and executing acquisition opportunities. Additionally, the individual will be responsible for business intelligence for existing and acquired businesses. You will work closely with deal sponsors and department leaders on all aspects of M&A, including developing the deal rationale, modeling, valuation analysis, deal structuring, negotiation, due diligence, and deal execution. You will present acquisition opportunities to company leadership, facilitate key acquisition decisions. The ideal candidate is strategic, relationship-oriented, analytical, creative, and results-oriented.
What You’ll Do
Analyze and understand strategic objectives, as well as industry trends to identify, recommend and pursue companies that can help the company meet those objectives faster.
Manage transactions from end-to-end, including sourcing, negotiating, diligencing, closing, and facilitating a seamless integration process
Lead deal evaluation meetings, drive decision-making, and negotiate deals with objectivity, diplomacy, and effectiveness.
Cultivate external relationships that provide the opportunity for potential future acquisitions or investments
Develop and manage relationships and pipeline with potential targets
Perform market research to help identify new investment trends and opportunities and own company’s competitive intelligence
Work with leadership and stakeholders to translate ideas to business and ROI; proactively identify areas for business improvement and provide data-driven analysis to support good decisions
Support the long-range financial planning process incorporating strategy into financial analysis and output
Support the development, reporting, and benchmarking of key corporate financial and operational metrics in monthly, and quarterly reporting packages (e.g. Board of Directors materials and Executive reporting, etc.)
Demonstrated analytical skills, fluency in performing rigorous financial, valuation and other quantitative analyses
Be a thought leader to department leads by analyzing and modeling data
About You
2-3+ years of experience working directly in Investment Banking or Venture Capital / Growth Equity firms
Deep understanding of Consumer Technology businesses, platforms and marketplaces
Excellent project management skills and strong executive presence and interpersonal skills
Ability to build outstanding and effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Demonstrated strengths in budgeting, forecasting, reporting, financial modeling and analysis
Strong knowledge of Google Suite, MS Office; expert Excel and SQL modeling skills

The compensation package for this role includes a market competitive salary, equity for all full time roles, exceptional benefits, and, for a very limited subset of roles, commissions plans. Our expected cash compensation (salary + commission if applicable) range for this role is:
$124,500 to $177,400 in San Francisco Bay Area, California

Wag! Is currently moving forward with a flexible hybrid work environment and looking to return to the office at least one day per week if you work near one of our current physical offices. Our current office locations are San Francisco, California and Phoenix, Arizona. The preferred location for this position is in or around Wag’s SF Bay Area, CA Office(s), with in-office work capabilities, as may be required by management.
