Virginia Commercial Space Flight Authority Looking for IT Manager at Wallops Island, VA Full Time

Position is located in Wallops Island, VA, with occasional travel to Norfolk, VA.

· Responsible for coordinating, planning, and leading all enterprise computer-related activities at Virginia Space

· Conduct needs assessments, strategic planning

· Develop IT policy in conjunction with the Chief Operating Officer

· Lead and mentor IT staff, cross-train IT staff on mission-critical systems to ensure continuity of operations

· Directly support launch operations at Pads 0A, 0B, and 0C

· Manage relationships with vendors

· Manage Virginia Space’s cloud-based and on-premises IT assets

· Acquisition and procurement of equipment (e.g., laptops, mobile phones, networking equipment, etc.)

· Manage networks at all satellite sites

· Maintain disaster recovery plan and conduct regular disaster recovery drills.

· Troubleshoot hardware and software issues related to enterprise IT

· Ensure compliance with NIST 800-171 and CMMC Level 3 cybersecurity requirements

· Occasional weekend and holiday work, driven by Virginia Space’s launch schedule.

Required Qualifications

· Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or 15+ years of experience managing a large IT shop

· 5-10 years of experience working in IT operations

· Hold, or be able to obtain, a Top Secret security clearance with SCI and CI polygraph

· Experience leading and managing large IT projects and ability to manage several projects at once, with excellent ability to prioritize and delegate

· Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills

· Firm grasp on cybersecurity and IT infrastructure best practices

· Willingness to travel to satellite sites (Eastern Shore and Norfolk, VA locations)

Desired/Helpful Qualifications

· Previous communication security (COMSEC) experience at the TS//SCI level

· Experience with the CakePHP 4 web development framework

· Experience with on-premises session border controllers for teleconferencing

Technical Skills

· Cisco and Juniper network switches

· Palo Alto and FortiNet firewall appliances

· Microsoft 365, Azure, Exchange, Endpoint Manager (Intune). SharePoint, Teams

· Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.x-8.x

· MSP 360 cloud backups
