Position Title : Marketing and Communications Coordinator, National Suicide Prevention Lifeline and Vibrant Emotional Health
Position Description: The Marketing and Communications Coordinator is responsible for supporting the day-to-day communications, public relations, and marketing strategies for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, a program administered by Vibrant Emotional Health and funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), and for Vibrant Emotional Health. The coordinator will support work with the media, including but not limited to tracking media metrics, creating lists, and drafting talking points. This person will support the creation of and facilitate the distribution of marketing and communications messaging and projects in support of Lifeline’s grant goals and communications strategies, as well as in the transition to the three-digit dialing code 988. This Coordinator will also help create public education messaging, tools, and campaigns in support of suicide prevention and mental health and support the implementation of strategies to increase public awareness of resources beyond the hotline; and help create tools for crisis centers and stakeholders to utilize in raising awareness of crisis centers’ work with the Lifeline in their communities as well as the work of crisis centers and the ways the public can support them. This person will also support public messaging partnerships and opportunities for public suicide prevention messaging and engagement, assist in creating branded materials, and represent the Lifeline and Vibrant at conferences, events, engagements with crisis centers, and the public as necessary. The Marketing and Communications Coordinator works closely with the Senior Marketing and Communications Manager, the Marketing and Communications Specialist, Network Engagement and Communications Coordinator, and Vibrant’s Communications team’s Digital Communications Manager.
Job Responsibilities: The Marketing and Communications Coordinator is responsible for supporting marketing and communications strategies for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline and Vibrant Emotional Health. The coordinator will help create marketing and communications materials, resources, and initiatives in keeping with the Lifeline’s messaging framework and goals, with a focus on raising public awareness of the needs of crisis centers. The coordinator will support communications projects from start to finish, and will coordinate with public partners, vendors, and other departments as needed. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Support the creation and distribution of marketing and communications messaging and materials in support of the Lifeline’s goals, including written materials, visuals, toolkits, and more
Help create marketing and communications materials and messaging to raise public awareness of the unique needs of crisis centers and how to support them
Help facilitate Lifeline and Vibrant communications and marketing projects, from conception to completion
Incorporate mental health and suicide prevention best practices and recommended messaging in resources, tools, and campaigns
Track metrics, create reports, and recommend communications strategies based on needs and goals, especially related to the media
Coordinate activities with partners, vendors, and other programs and departments
Support and foster relationships with partners, press, and media to advance suicide prevention messaging and resources
Represent the Lifeline in engagements with crisis centers, partners, and the public as necessary
Support the Communications team and carry out Communications tasks as needed
Required Skills:
Experience or excitement about conceptualizing and creating public digital messaging campaigns and materials, with a focus on addressing sensitive, complex and timely subject matter
Strong creative skills, especially writing and editorial.
Strong project management skills
Ability to adapt plans and strategies in light of new information and goals
Public speaking experience
Experience with digital platforms, including website CMS and e-newsletters
Experience tracking and reporting on media
Qualifications:
Bachelors’ degree in marketing, public relations, journalism, media studies, communications, or related field
1-2 years of professional work experience in a marketing and communications department of a complex organization; editorial and/or public relations experience in a nonprofit mental health, health, human services organization, or government organization a plus
Ability to implement and facilitate projects from conception to completion
Track record of devising messaging and strategies for sensitive and timely subject matter
Ability to meet deadlines and anticipate future needs
Experience creating reports and tracking metrics
Flexibility and occasional availability on evenings and weekends for organizational needs
Some travel required
Salary :$50K-$60K
