What you can expect in this position:
The Senior Accountant prepares and provides accounting, financial transaction, reporting, analysis, compliance, and financial support for Versiti. The Senior Accountant also provides financial support to Service Lines and Corporate Services Areas including budgeting, forecasting, and understanding of financial results.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Accounting, Financial Close, and Financial Reporting
• Accounts for financial transactions of the organization; prepares and records resulting journal entries in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Versiti financial policies.
• Creates, maintains, and reviews account reconciliations for general ledger accounts and prepares accounting adjustments.
• Ensures monthly accounting and closing related activities are completed accurately and timely.
• Prepares, distributes, and presents timely, accurate, and meaningful financial reports for internal and external users.
• Coordinates with key stakeholders the collection, calculation, and distribution of monthly metrics and analytics.
• Prepares advanced account variance and trend analysis, working with management and staff to provide explanations and related analytics.
• Explains and creates understanding of financial reports, researches and resolves inquiries, and prepares variance analyses.
• Understands, applies, and educates management and staff on Versiti Finance policies, processes, and practices.
• Develops and maintains knowledge of current accounting practices and GAAP.
Financial Operations
• Collaborates with the Versiti Finance Shared Services function to ensure efficient and effective processing of financial transactions.
• Serves as key contributor in identifying and/or leading process improvement initiatives with particular emphasis on enhancing and streamlining processes, including but not limited to, reconciliation schedules and management reporting.
• Leverages subject matter expertise to train new hires and assist in skills development of other peers, as requested.
• Serves as key resource to Controller for process questions and enhancements.
• Provides training/coaching of Staff Accountant on technique and job functions.
ERP System
• Develops working knowledge of the Versiti Oracle ERP software system processes; works collaboratively with system users to meet needs and resolve issues.
• Identifies potential system improvement opportunities. Assists, as requested, in the development and maintenance of ERP system documentation and training.
Compliance
• Prepares financial schedules to support the external audit and preparation of the federal tax return form 990 for Versiti; explains accounting and financial transactions to external auditors and tax preparers.
• Develops information for annual insurance program renewals for Versiti; provides insurance support to the organization as requested.
• Prepares timely and accurate reports, filings, and surveys for the government, as applicable.
Financial Planning and Support
• Creates and maintains budgeting tools and assists management in the preparation of the annual budget and periodic financial forecasts.
• Serves as a financial resource and advisor, providing financial expertise and assistance to customers, suppliers, and all levels of the organization. Elevates the financial literacy of the organization.
• Support the creation of financial models and business cases to assess Versiti s current service line operations and to aid in decision support for future operational proposals and growth initiatives.
Qualifications:
All new employees must obtain primary Covid-19 vaccination (single dose J&J or 2 dosages of Pfizer/Moderna) prior to start date.
Education:
• Bachelor s degree in accounting from an accredited college or university required.
• CPA (Certified Public Accountant) preferable.
Experience:
• 5 years of experience in accounting and financial operations required.
• Experience in using integrated accounting and financial systems required.
• Experience in a health care or manufacturing organization preferred.
Skills and Knowledge:
• Effective interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Detail-oriented and the ability to ensure accuracy of information.
• Ability to organize, multitask and prioritize assignments and meet established deadlines.
• Strong reasoning and analytical skills with the ability to effectively communicate technical financial information to management.
• Working knowledge of spreadsheets and integrated financial transaction processing/information systems.
• Possess high ethical standards and values, personal integrity, and honesty.
Tools and Technology:
• Personal networked computer experience required.
• MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) required.
• Oracle Cloud ERP experience preferred.
• Ceridian Dayforce experience preferred.
