VTS is an established independent Multi-family office. The firm provides professional support and helps manage the finances for a small group of Ultra High Net Worth families. Service lines include income and estate tax planning, accounting and financial reporting, tax compliance, and sophisticated financial planning.

Position Summary

We are currently hiring a Tax Manager to be an integral and key member of our growing team. This is a unique opportunity to work on complex/interesting planning and projects for multiple families in a one-of-a-kind team environment. The Tax Manager will be responsible for managing a sophisticated tax compliance function in addition to the related planning. The right individual must be excited about handling multiple priorities and complex initiatives and be able to adapt in a dynamic work environment. The ideal candidate must also demonstrate high integrity and discretion as they will be trusted with handling highly sensitive information.

Job Description

The main duties and responsibilities will include the following:

• Prepare and review tax returns and the related workpapers for individuals, gifts, partnerships, foundations, and trusts,
• Resolve complex technical tax issues, consult with experts, and communicate research findings to senior management,
• Liaise with lawyers, trustees, accountants, and other external advisors effecting family-directed strategies,
• Review monthly reporting, and
• Assist with other projects as required.

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting or Taxation,
• CPA and/or JD,
• Minimum of 5 years of experience working in public accounting or a family office with an emphasis on taxation,
• Proficient in at least one area: entity, individual and fiduciary taxation; with an understanding of complex investments and the related tax implications,
• Familiar with multi-state taxation,
• Ability to work independently, as work is done remotely,
• Analytical skills,
• Attention to detail, and
• Advanced skills in Excel.
