TITLE: Manager, Finance
JOB OVERVIEW: The Manager, Finance position will be responsible for day-to-day operations and direct supervision of Finance department. This position will also be responsible for the management of, all financial/accounting operations of the organization, including general ledger reporting, financial reporting, financial analysis, financial statement audits and fixed assets.

REPORTS TO: Vice President, Finance
PREREQUISITES:
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Accounting, Finance or in Business Administration, with a concentration in Accounting. Master’s degree preferred.
CPA required.
Minimum five years accounting and/or auditing management/supervisory experience, with emphasis on healthcare or healthcare related field, required.
Expertise in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP.)
Thorough knowledge of governmental and AICPA accounting standards (GASB and FASB) and federal and state reporting requirements, including Single Audit.
External CPA experience preferred in Big 4, regional, or governmental setting.
Knowledge of public hospital district laws within the state of Washington preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Demonstrated ability to coach, motivate, and teach others throughout the department and across departmental lines about financial related issues.
Provides strong financial oversight and guidance.

Essential Responsibilities and Competencies:
Responsible for management, development, and direction of general ledger and financial reporting functions.
Responsible for monthly and yearly financial accounting close in a timely manner and reporting of monthly and yearly financial statements
Directly supervises and manages, on a day-to-day basis, financial analysts, accountants, and fixed asset accountant
Reviews and analyzes accounting data on a routine basis.
Reviews all monthly journal entries prior to posting.
Reviews all analyses performed by analysts.
Responsible for reviewing maintenance of general ledger chart of accounts.
Manage strategic initiatives of administrators/organization to achieve financial goals.
Coordinate with UW system accounting and finance departments on UW-system level monthly and annual financial reporting.
Review and/or coordinate detailed variance analytics on a monthly basis
Establish, develop, and implement accounting practices, principles, and procedures to reflect current GASB and FASB pronouncements.
Coordinates the financial reporting processes of the entire organization.
Perform and/or review detailed financial and accounting analyses
Maintains, reviews and modifies a system of internal accounting controls over key internal control systems and organizational assets.
Provides useful financial information to internal and external customers.
Works closely with other managers, directors and administrators to provide general financial guidance or consulting.
Participate in cross-departmental committees, such as Risk Management, Corporate Compliance, Revenue Cycle, Materials Management, and others.
Evaluates, counsels, and develops staff and participates in decisions regarding hiring, evaluations, salary adjustments, promotions, and terminations.
Willing to continuously evaluate and reinvent the financial systems and processes, as necessary, to improve organizational performance and/or strengthen necessary internal controls.
Primary liaison with third party auditors-regulatory, financial statement, etc.
Assists VP of Finance with special projects and other administrator-level requests.
Maintains continuing education for awareness of impacts of changing accounting standards and regulatory agency requirements as to their effect on the financial viability and/or legal compliance of the organization.
Demonstrates conformance to VMC’s policies and procedures.
