The Department of UW Finance Shared Services has an outstanding opportunity for a HR Recruiter to join their team. POSITION PURPOSE UW Finance Shared Services Human Resources (FINSS-HR) division supports staff to successfully meet the goals of UW Finance by providing high quality and responsive human resources support to foster an exceptional work environment that encourages, nurtures, and recognizes professional development of employees. FINSS-HR provides employee relations and employment expertise for all UW Finance staff. This includes developing and implementing recruiting and retention strategies; administering and interpreting policies; providing counseling and guidance regarding performance management; and developing service strategies, processes, and programs that are responsive to the needs of the staff to implement best human resources practices for employee relations and employment. The FINSS-HR Recruiter is responsible for the oversight and management of recruiting for UW Finance, building, and engaging staff. The department is responsible for the Talent Acquisition strategy encompassing over 375 FTE. Talent acquisition responsibilities include candidate pipelining, hiring diverse candidates while providing consultation services, and talent management expertise. The Recruiter will work with the Sr. Recruiter to assist in setting the direction of UW Finance recruiting strategies and engage in continuous improvement by observing fundraising and higher education trends to develop best practices and toolkits for the UW Finance Hiring Managers and creating programs to increase inclusivity and retention. Position Complexities: Campus leadership: • Collaborate, communicate and coordinate the recruiting program across UW Finance • Provide strategy-driven, peer-to-peer leadership to colleagues to UW Finance, program hiring managers • Successfully navigate the complex structure of a central/decentral system of the University • Negotiate priorities and resolve conflicts between unit requests and priorities and UW Finance and University mission, goals and priorities • Integrate unit priorities and programs into UW Finance and university priorities • Lead and move projects forward effectively, even in situations where they have little or no direct control of or influence over project partners • Build and maintain trusted relationships with internal partners (central and unit) and external partners (community, vendors, and suppliers) Strategy/Program Development • Build, enhance, and continuously improve a robust recruiting program optimizing both central and unit resources to achieve goals • Advice and counsel leadership and staff on recruiting to optimize outreach and ensure successful recruiting • Create new strategies utilizing new techniques and technology; implement innovative recruiting techniques to ensure the most effective program • Seek ways to continuously improve the program to enhance the recruiting program • Create and update tools and resources for program users • Follow trends in the market; identify, develop and disseminate best practices Leadership Skills • Manage multiple complex projects simultaneously • Remain calm and diplomatic in stressful and crisis situations • Exercise sound judgment at all times; balance the needs of the university and UW Finance against university policy, federal, state and local laws and codes and UW Finance policies and procedures • Effectively manage with strategic issues as well as tactical and operational details Position Dimensions and Impact to the University: The Recruiter is responsible for the recruitment strategies for UW Finance. UW Finance is a central administrative unit responsible for key financial activities for the UW. The Recruiter is essential for evaluating positions, attracting and hiring staff to engage in critical work, and advising managers to build and maintain strong teams, culture, and compliance. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Recruiting, External Outreach and Sourcing, Hiring Work under the general direction of the Sr. Recruiter to provide seamless recruiting to UW Finance to build and maintain strong diverse teams and inclusive culture. • Manage full cycle recruiting for UW Finance hard to fill positions, which includes posting positions, developing sourcing strategies that draw in diverse candidates, screening and interviewing candidates, formulating offer letters, and onboarding new hires • Responsible for sourcing, identifying, and recommending placements of diverse candidates through the use of creative internal and external sourcing methods • Establishes recruiting requirements by studying organization plans and objectives; meeting with managers to discuss needs • Proactively source, network, and creatively identify and interview potential candidates; build relationships with campus and non-campus partners to build candidate sourcing opportunities • Partner and consult with Hiring Managers to continually improve recruiting processes • Facilitate close working relationships with each department so that the FINSS-HR team can partner successfully in all recruitments and interactions • Provide guidance on a broad breadth of human resources/employment knowledge for day-to-day employment advice and counsel • Advise managers on the legislative and regulatory requirements of the recruitment and selection process • Provide salary setting consultation; advise on alignment issues, internal equity, and market trends in salary setting within UW Finance, the UW and the external market • Continuously evaluate policies and procedures for quality improvement • Attend recruiting and outreach functions to source potential candidates • Coordinate a calendar of outreach events, such as job fairs and socials, as part of the Recruiting Team to engage a network of potential candidates • Maintain recruiting metrics dashboard • Maintain documents related to recruiting and onboarding • Manage external and internal facing sites within the organization Strategy Development In collaboration with the Sr. Recruiter and the Director of Shared Services HR, develop and implement the talent acquisition and retention strategies for UW Finance. Build integrated organizational programs; HR processes designed to attract, develop, motivate and retain employees, to create a high-performance, sustainable organization • Develop, implement and manage outreach tools, especially in new media, to attract outstanding candidates; Identify appropriate and cost effective marketing, advertising, and posting sources that provides exposure of UW Finance positions to a broad swath of diverse candidates • Develop, recommend, implement and manage sourcing and marketing strategies • Monitor industry trends, including trends in finance and accounting and higher education, and develop, recommend, implement and manage best practices and tool kits for Hiring Managers • Collaborate, create, and implement organizational development strategies and structures to meet the changing needs of UW Finance Develop a career development and progression program Co-lead, collaborate and develop the UW Finance diversity, equity, and inclusion programming Expand onboarding and retention programs • Conduct ongoing analysis of existing systems and strategies, and work to make meaningful improvements Other duties as assigned (5%) • Train and cross train staff within UW Finance MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of experience in recruiting, human resources, or related field.?Equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired may substitute for degree. Demonstrated experience in working on diverse groups and teams; respects, values, and contributes to diversity, inclusion, and equity. Ability to implement, coordinate, and manage sound HR and general administration processes, aligned to with UW’s policies and procedures. Excellent oral and written communications skills; demonstrated and committed to provide excellent customer service. Strong knowledge and experience in Microsoft products including: Outlook/Exchange, Word, Excel, Visio, Power Point, Teams, Zoom, and SharePoint. Experience juggling multiple work assignments that range in duration and time sensitivity, with frequent interruptions and emergent priorities; must be exceptionally well organized, detail oriented, and have excellent follow through. Proven ability to work proactively and independently with minimal supervision. Ability to handle sensitive issues with confidentiality and diplomacy. The successful candidate needs to be able to organize and analyze large amounts of information and manage details. Experience implementing and coordinating unit initiatives. Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience in Higher Education. Experience with Finance or Accounting industries.
