Contract Manager – Associate Vc Finance & Administration
The Contracts Department at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, invites applications for a full-time Contract Manager. Reporting to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Finance & Administration, the Contract Manager is responsible for providing direction and counsel for the campus on contractual matters. This position oversees the contract specialist team and is responsible for evaluating, analyzing and reviewing legal aspects of contracts to ensure the university’s interests are protected against legal, regulatory, and liability issues.
Minimum Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business or related area with a minimum of 6 years of experience in commercial contract drafting, negotiation and administration
Demonstrated understanding of contract terms and conditions, particularly in purchasing and vendor contracts; understanding of performance measures; and contract administration
Extensive understanding and knowledge of contract principles and contract law
Comprehensive understanding of legal terminology and knowledge of legal principles
Ability to thoroughly analyze and review contracts and other legal documents
Ability to negotiate contracts with contractors
In-depth knowledge of inferences contained in contract language and implications of its intent
Excellent focus and ability to process high volume of detailed material
Ability to evaluate contract language for both substantive and legal issues
Ability to administer policies and procedures relating to the University of Tennessee
Knowledge of certificates of insurance and standard insurance limits and coverage types for vendor contracts
Exceptional ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
Ability to organize and prioritize workload
Ability to multi task, flexible to change and easy to adapt
Ability to work independently without supervision
Preference will be given to individuals with professional experience working in contract administration at an institute of higher education or governmental agency. Knowledge of State of Tennessee Law, university contracting procedures and standard insurance limits and coverage types for vendor contracts is also preferred.
