POSITION SUMMARY
The senior staff accountant is responsible for preparing, maintaining and reporting financial information as required by the hospital and corporation, as directed by the Chief Financial Officer. Responsible for budgeting, financial reporting, payroll, cost accounting, financial analysis, accounts payable, providing oversight to the accounts receivables, managing the financial accounting/close and reporting process, completing tax packages, bank reconciliations, and miscellaneous requests either from Corporate or the Facility for fiscal analysis and information. Incumbent maintains the hospital’s general ledger accounts on a monthly and annual basis; ensures accurate posting of financial information; prepares and report all necessary compliance reports to various Federal, State and other governmental agencies; assist the CFO in performing and completing special projects; and assists the CFO in managing and directing the activities in the Business Office. Supervise Accounts Payable and Payroll functions.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, concentration in accounting preferred.
Experience: Four years progressive experience in the accounting field preferred.
License: Not required.

Salary Information:
Minimum: $74,110.40/year
Maximum: $99,299.20/year

STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE:
Reporting and Accounting Functions
1. Performs functions appropriate to position and in compliance with facility and corporate policies and procedures.
2. Assist in month-end close process of the hospital (final approval by CFO).
3. Assist in the mid-month reporting process (final approval by CFO).
4. Prepare and distribute monthly financial statements to the CFO and CEO of the hospital and to appropriate corporate personnel.
5. Reconcile the hospital’s balance sheet accounts on a monthly and annual basis.
6. Prepare and distribute financial schedules for Management and Operations’ monthly analysis (final approval by CFO).
7. Assist in preparation of hospital’s schedules for annual financial audit.
8. Reconcile all of hospital’s bank accounts on a monthly basis.

9. Prepare, reconcile, and report quarterly and annual necessary compliance reports timely and accurately to various Federal, State and other governmental agencies – i.e., payroll reports, 1099 forms, etc.
10. Work closely and frequently with CFO in all matters affecting the financial reporting requirements of the hospital.
11. Oversee the accounts payable and payroll departments.
12. Assist CFO in maintaining and evaluating overall internal control systems of the hospital.
13. Maintain sufficient familiarity with data processing systems to identify problems or weaknesses, initiate appropriate corrective action and generate necessary reports.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND SPECIAL DEMANDS

7. Ability to stoop, kneel and bend to retrieve files from bottom shelves and drawers, to move boxes of paper and forms to computer printer.
8. Ability to reach, turn, and twist above and below the waist.
9. Ability to stand and walk the facility grounds.
10. Ability to spend 10% of working time outside in temperatures varying from below 40 degrees to 110 degrees.
11. Ability to spend 90% working time in environment of continuous low voices and office machine noise typical for business office atmosphere.
12. Ability to handle a variety of repetitive tasks at a moderate level.
13. Ability to occasionally handle electrical, mechanical, or equipment emergencies.
