Manager Physician Financial Services Position Overview
This finance position leads a team serving as the principal finance liaison to UHS Medical Group (both Article 28 clinics and non-Article 28 practice sites). Since the general accounting activities are managed at the UHS System level, this position manages the financial reporting, the budget, payroll, compensation modeling, monthly volume and revenue analysis, intercompany contracts, and all other activities related to the Physician Practice Division.
Manager Physician Financial Services Responsibilities and Expectations
- Works with leaders and colleagues to develop the annual operating plan (including but not limited to operating budgets, capital budgets) as well as the development of service line P&Ls, specifically relating to the Physician Practice Division
- Oversees monitoring and reporting of the financial performance of UHS Medical Group, including underlying trends, and key metrics driving performance
- Analyzes variances to budget and prior period, and keeps Leadership informed of significant events impacting operations
- Presents financial results at monthly financial review meetings
- Assists Leadership with special projects (e.g., new business generation, cost reduction)
- Manages and participates in the preparation of financial outlooks and financial forecasts, billing fee schedules, and the preparation of the physician productivity, quarterly incentives and compensation changes and reporting
- Establishes and maintains all intercompany contracts involving UHS Medical Group, and works collaboratively with system members to assure intercompany balances are appropriate
Position Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, 7 years of relevant experience in this discipline, minimum 3 years in a supervisory role required
- Master’s degree in accounting, finance, healthcare or similar and 3 years of relevant experience in health care industry preferred
