University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center is a member of the University of Maryland Medical System, a multi-hospital system with academic, community, and specialty service missions reaching every part of the state and beyond.
The Manager, Financial Decision Support under the general supervision, manages financial decision support services for the University of Maryland Saint Joseph Medical Group. Responsible for researching, designing, and executing financial decision support projects. This position provides a central focus for decision support activities in one or several areas including budgeting, financial analysis, system operations and information management. The position is also responsible for supervising and mentoring decision support analysts.
Coordinates and supports the management of assigned areas in the development of annual operating and capital budgets. Ensures that the plans are consistent with the organization’s mission and goals.
Consults with management regarding budgets, major purchase priorities, and projects requiring large capital expenditures.
Serves as the primary Finance contact for assigned areas. Coordinates the matching of Finance Department resources to individual department needs. Develops and maintains adequate internal and external communications systems to representatives of the Decision Support department.
Provides technical assistance to assigned departments for budget preparation and when appropriate, assists in the financial evaluation/assessment of new programs and services.
Represents the department on appropriate planning and administrative committees.
Directly supervises the performance of analyst(s) and other Financial Operations staff, including hiring, training and development, performance reviews, and discipline, in accordance with UMMS Human Resources policies and procedures. Communicates and enforces standards of performance and productivity. Determines staffing needs.
What You Need to Be Successful:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. MBA, CPA or Master’s degree in Finance, preferred.
Five (5) years of progressively responsible, financial planning, financial systems, financial analysis or budgeting experience. Decision support background preferred.
