Description
The Finance Project Manager will report to the Sr. Manager, Business Projects and Process within the Finance Initiatives Program Office (FIPO). The person in this role will be responsible for planning and coordinating business activities and managing the successful completion of tasks, milestones, and overall project deliverables, while working collaboratively with business and IT stakeholders. Leveraging an understanding of finance-centric goals and activities, the Finance Project Manager will proactively identify and mitigate risks and influence decisions to ensure a successful business and project outcome. In addition to project related activities, the Finance Project Manager will coordinate with Finance, FIPO and IT on scope, process design, requirements gathering, testing, change management and training, communications, stakeholder analysis, and performance measurement-related activities.
Key responsibilities:
• Utilize the project management discipline to coordinate and manage critical Finance process improvement initiatives, as well as some IT-led technology projects
• Identify, schedule and track project deliverables, milestones and required tasks and measure and report progress toward completion
• Act as an advocate for Finance and FIPO to ensure Finance business needs are met on time and with quality
• Proactively develop the business project plan, including finalizing scope and identifying needed resources in advance of project initiation
• Collaborate with the project team and other business and IT resources on project deliverables
• Communicate weekly status on individual projects to applicable parties
• Proactively identify and escalate project issues such as timing, missed requirements or resource constraints, and provide mitigation recommendations to management
• Lead or participate in retrospectives and celebrate team successes
• Contribute to the design and development of the Finance PMO offerings and project management-related processes and procedures
• Foster a continuous improvement mindset and global focus throughout Finance, and assist in promoting the adoption of new concepts and ideas
• Perform other duties or activities upon request
Qualifications
• Undergraduate degree at a minimum
• Minimum 5 years of experience in business project management or equivalent, PMP and/or Agile certification a plus
• Finance and/or Accounting knowledge or experience desired
• Strong planning and organizational skills with proven experience managing projects, including cross-functional projects
• Experience with technology projects, including system integration, user acceptance testing and business readiness activity coordination
• Proven ability to identify, analyze and resolve issues in a timely fashion
• Proven ability to challenge norms, identify and drive continuous improvements and innovation where applicable; change management acuity
• Proven ability to influence stakeholders and decision makers
• Ability to transform ambiguity into clarity and simplify complex concepts and processes for ease of understanding
• Detail-oriented, results and quality-focused
• Excellent interpersonal, customer-orientation, collaboration, and business acumen skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication, including presentation skills
• Proven ability to work effectively in a team and hybrid working environment
• Experience with standard project management tools (Clarity a plus)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, SharePoint, and collaboration applications
