Thursday Boot Company Looking for Director of Accounting at United States Full Time

Role Description

We’re searching for a highly motivated accounting professional with interest in long-term growth and leadership. As a member of our finance team, you will work directly with our CFO and Co-Founders to lead many core accounting functions. You also will be given opportunities to lead cross-functional analytical projects across the organization to drive value. The ideal candidate is someone who takes full ownership, is solution oriented and thrives on a deep understanding of accounting systems, as you will be responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of financial data that drives business decisions. This role comes with substantial responsibilities and will be of interest to anyone looking for a fast-paced, meritocratic culture with significant upside.

You will:

• Ensure the integrity of accounting information by recording, classifying, and verifying financial transactions in the general ledger.
• Oversee all inventory related processes and controls, including month end reconciliations, three way matches, and the accuracy of Cost of Goods Sold and Inventory.
• Lead the entire accounts payable process to ensure that vendors are accurately paid on time and that all expenses are accurately recorded in the general ledger.
• Manage all biweekly payroll, onboarding, and offboarding functions.
• Lead all tax planning and related issues.
• Supervise and mentor junior team members so they can contribute to their highest potential.
• Support any processes necessary to ensure the timely close of our monthly financials.

You have:

• 7+ years’ experience accounting experience in high-growth retail or consumer goods companies, with a demonstrated track record of personal excellence.
• Excellent verbal and written communication – able to clearly and concisely share ideas, with a bias for action.
• Expert level knowledge and understanding of transactions within the income statement, the balance sheet and the necessary control processes to ensure accuracy across each line item.
• Mastery in Excel and G-Suite with deep comfort working through large sets of data to present analytical findings.
• Excellent knowledge of order-to-cash, purchase orders, procurement and other standard processes within inventory control.
• Familiarity with accounting software flows (NetSuite experience is preferred, but not a requirement).
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• Master’s degree in Accounting and/or CPA strongly preferred.
• Experience with e-commerce, inventory accounting, and/or retail are all preferred.
