Job Description
The Corporate Controller will ensure the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy and timeliness of the company’s reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles. This role will serve as a key member of the finance management team, contributing to all commercial, operational, and financial matters maximizing profits and growth in the business. Oversight of accounting, treasury, tax, and payroll functions.
This position can be in Columbus, Ohio or Flower Mound (DFW), Texas.
Management of Financial Accounting, Reporting and Analysis
Ensure timely, complete, and accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP
Responsible for Treasury and Cash Management, including daily cash and borrowing availability forecasts, debt covenant compliance, foreign exchange transactions, LIBOR selections
Provide oversight to the inventory control function
Drives cross-functional inventory decisions as it relates to bank reporting and obsolescence
Leads all tax compliance matters including sales and use tax and income tax; works closely with external advisors
Negotiates and reviews contracts
Develop and manage department budget
Collaborate with Financial Planning and Analysis team
Ad hoc analysis or special projects as needed
Internal Control and Compliance/System
Manage annual external financial statement audit, oversee monthly bank reporting for credit agreement compliance, lead annual bank audits, third-party asset appraisals, 401k audits, and various customs audits
Design, document and implement effective internal control processes and procedures
Design, develop and maintain a documented system of accounting policy and procedures
Safeguard the assets of the company including, but not limited to inventory, fixed assets, cash, etc.
Ensure compliance with local, state and federal tax and reporting requirements
Responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations
Leadership and Department Management
Develops department plans, aligns priorities, and communicates direction to the departments in line with Company strategies and initiatives
Provides company-wide leadership on adherence to company policies and procedures
Drives ongoing process improvements
Establishes short- and long-range departmental goals and objectives
Design, establish and maintain an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish departmental goals
Provide supervision and guidance to accounting staff to develop staff as both individuals and as an effective team
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Accounting or Finance and Master’s degree preferred.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required
8-10+ years’ progressive experience in accounting and finance. Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and lead employees at various stages of their career.
Highly experienced with Excel and working with highly complex data, and an understanding of data modeling and analysis. Experience with Data Visualization (MicroStrategy, Tableau, Power BI) a plus.
Business Transformation experience a plus and proven process improvement experience required
Knowledge of GAAP and applicable regulations
Big 4 experience preferred
