Nucleic Acid Therapeutics (NATx) is a business within the Biosciences Division of the Life Sciences & Lab Products Group. NATx is one of Thermo Fisher Scientific’s fastest growing businesses with a significant focus on enabling mRNA-based therapies. This business offers Enzymes, Nucleotides, and Modified Nucleotides serving the nascent mRNA vaccine production market.
We are seeking an Operations Finance Manager to be an integral part of building out this business. Nucleic Acid Therapeutics has experienced explosive growth in the past few years and is projected to maintain strong expansion in the coming years. This role will be critically important as we bring multiple new manufacturing locations online and build out a full team across all areas of the business. This is a high visibility role within the company, allowing you opportunity for learning and long-term career growth.
This role will be an important business partner providing strategic financial support, analysis, and reporting to site, finance, and business leadership. This includes monthly reporting and forecasting, trend analysis, KPI management, and any ad hoc work related to operations in the build-out of the business. This position will work closely with finance and BU leadership to support and enhance key customer reporting requirements as well as partner with the team to help achieve financial commitments.
In addition, this role will provide guidance to the Finance Director on operations strategy regarding production cost management and productivity improvements, inventory management, footprint optimization and capital expenditures, and create/maintain site forecast and AOP.
What you will do:
Business partnering for Nucleic Acid Therapeutics BU across multiple sites in a matrixed environment to drive, communicate, and influence business decisions
Lead consolidations for the operations divisional financials consisting of global manufacturing sites and supporting functions for monthly reporting and forecasting, risks and opportunities, and QBR reporting
Drive rigorous and transparent financial reporting (including savings on productivity improvements, scrap, freight, distribution cost, inventory, backlog and backorder; production volume, overhead spending), run the site FP&A function
Enhance financial reporting knowledge across the business unit
Reviewing monthly revenue, spending details and HC and identify the key factors driving variances to AOP and Forecast
Support preparing annual operating plan and monthly and quarterly business reviews (MBR/QBR)
Perform special projects and ad-hoc financial analysis
Drive continuous improvement and standardization of reporting and analytical processes to drive productivity and efficiency
Provide support to the CAPEX process (return of the investment)
Support SOX/Statutory Audits
Understand and deploy the best tools / methods to optimally communicate complex data and topics
Provide timely and accurate financial information to leadership to make sound P&L, Balance Sheet, and cash flow decisions
Support special projects including Site transfers and NPI launches
Develop global processes that are scalable, streamlined, and effective in meeting business needs
Provide financial support while business partnering with manufacturing sites and operations leadership
Lead and develop relationships with GBS in Costa Rica (AP/AR/GL support)
Ensure adherence to Divisional Approval Authority Matrix/Corporate accounting policies
How you will get here:
Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Finance field
An undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting is required
Minimum of 5+ years of business and Finance experience
Experience in business partnering with a distributed team
Prior experience in a large global company and highly matrixed organization
Proficient at understanding and proactively communicating the financial implications of business decisions and dynamics
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Prior experience within FP&A or Controlling
‘Strong analytical and data gathering skills. Attention to detail and consistently delivering high quality work
Ability to balance multiple priorities and tight time demands
Excellent skills with MS Excel are required; Oracle, HFM/CMR, SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) are preferred
Effective verbal and written communication skills are required to collaborate with various partners
Strong team building skills and the shown ability to work with a diverse group of people even if geographically dispersed
Self-motivated, higher level of flexibility and strong work ethic with the goal to get the job done
