Department Summary:
MITRE is seeking an experienced FP&A professional to serve as a financial and strategic business partner to MITRE’s Corporate Operations. This is a high visibility role that will have exposure to MITRE’s Executive Leadership Team members and will require strong communication skills as well as the ability to present complicated financial and technological concepts in a clear, concise manner to all levels of management. This Finance Manager role will be expected to provide significant input in the decision-making process to leadership. A key attribute for the successful candidate will be the ability to understand current technologies (cloud, mobile, cybersecurity, etc.) and how their implementation/usage impacts cost structures. The candidate will be expected to be conversant on the latest technological trends and their potential impact on operations.
The role will be located in either our Bedford, Massachusetts, or McLean Virginia office with a hybrid work schedule.
The responsibilities of the job consist of:
Management Responsibilities:
Providing leadership, mentorship, guidance, and career development to staff
Ensuring timely and quality delivery of services across individual staff members
Being a collaborative partner within the Finance Leadership Team
Being a sought after thought leader amongst peers, staff, and stakeholders
Individual Contributor Responsibilities: Development and delivery of high value analytical reporting that encompasses key performance metrics and drivers
Competencies:
Ability to apply a broad range of analytical techniques to identify business issues, opportunities, and risks.
Ability to partner with Executive level budget owners, communicate financial results and lead/drive financial decision-making.
Ability to develop new business models, cost structures and apply allocation methodologies.
Ability to understand the implications of decisions at the business division level and the connection to the enterprise overall including impact to metrics (Rates & Price).
Ability to develop visually appealing presentations that effectively communicate information.
Ability to use and apply a range of finance and business intelligence software products as part of the financial reporting requirements.
Corporate FP&A experience:
Works with staff to specify performance expectations (outcomes, deliverables, metrics)
Knows and understands MITRE’s Code of Ethics and Conduct and consistently models behaviors that are consistent with those values

Builds consensus and negotiates outcomes to the satisfaction of all parties

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in related field (or equivalent in combined education and experience); Master’s degree preferred.
8+ years of finance and/or accounting experience within the US Government (Federal) practice of a professional services firm, with at least 3 years of supervisory/management experience
Demonstrated strong business and financial acumen
