Position Description

Under the general direction of the Financial Controller, provide vital accounting oversight for assigned portfolio of programs. Work with general accounting team to complete timely monthly close, ad-hoc reporting and analysis, and support annual financial audit requests, and serve as single Point-of-Contact to program leads and associated shared services.

This role does not have any direct reports at present but could potentially lead a team of 1-2 staff accountants as needed.

Essential Functions

• Assist in the design and maintain systems of internal control to ensure the reliability and integrity of financial information and the accomplishment of Agency goals and objectives.
• Review and analyze financial reports for assigned programs
• Perform monthly reconciliations and updates of assigned schedules
• Distribute financial information to outside parties on a recurring basis.
• Responsible for managing and analyzing, reconciling, and recording of monthly activity.
• Prepare and post entries to the General Ledger as needed
• Attend workshops, training, seminars, etc to remain current with accounting standards.
• Work to develop supervisory abilities – performance reviews, staff management, etc. through participation in internal training programs
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting and 7 to 10 years of accounting experience, CPA strongly preferred.

• Possesses a strong accounting background with a working knowledge of the latest accounting pronouncements.
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office and internet skills with the ability to learn new software applications.
