Operating in a large, complex environment is something we’ve done for 135+ years, and today we’re growing our Finance organization and looking for a Principal Tax Accountant to join an exciting, dynamic, and highly analytical team. This newly created role will be part of the Tax Department and work primarily within our Federal and State Income Tax Groups.
The position will focus on the Company’s domestic tax compliance and reporting obligations including preparation of Federal Form 1120 and State income and franchise tax returns, quarterly estimated tax payments, and audit defense. This individual will collaborate both within and outside the Tax Department to ensure we understand our internal processes and how to apply tax law in the most effective and efficient manner. The federal and state tax landscapes are constantly changing, and we’re looking for someone who can adapt to this fast-paced environment.

What you’ll do for us:
- Assist in preparation of Federal Form 1120 and State income and franchise tax returns, quarterly estimated tax payments, and amended returns as necessary for the Company.
- Analyze tax accounts and prepare U.S. GAAP tax provisions for Headquarters’ locations to ensure compliance with ASC 740.
- Prepare documentation of the Company’s tax return positions to support tax returns, audits, and FIN 48 documentation.
- Research and analyze technical tax issues to determine the applicability and impact to the Company.
- Leverage technology to continuously improve and automate processes where the need for improvement is identified.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or relevant related degree required. Master’s degree and professional certification preferred.
- 3+ years of federal and state income tax experience with large multinational company or Big 4 accounting firm
- Strong technical knowledge of Federal and State tax concepts and their application to large, multinational corporations
- Experience preparing and filing consolidated Form 1120, quarterly estimated tax payments, and tax provisions for large corporations
- Strong computer systems and technology skills, including experience with accounting and tax software (such as OneSource Income Tax or Provision software)
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify critical tax risk and assist in developing and implementing tax strategies aligned with the Company’s objectives.
- Ability to identify process improvements and coordinate with other internal stakeholders to facilitate streamlining and automation.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Must be a solid team player and demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment across functional areas.
