Position Summary
We are searching for a Director of Finance to join Branch Group, a leader in the construction industry with 4 business units in Virginia and North Carolina . The Controller serves as our Business unitxe2x80x99s Chief Accountant. In conjunction with the Vice President of Accounting/Corporate Controller, the Controller is responsible for managing the Business Unitxe2x80x99s Accounting function; this includes ensuring conformity with Branch Group (TBG) accounting and administrative policies and procedures. The Controller must know all the financial pieces; where they are, what makes them up, and how they got there. The Controller is responsible for preparing financial statements, auditing, internal control, and for providing insightful information to management. The Controller is the Branch Groupxe2x80x99s financial liaison to the Business Units (BUs). Duties/Responsibilities
Prepares and analyzes the monthly Work in Process (WIP) contract schedule.
Works closely with BU management in monthly job reviews, forecasts, & projections.
Responsible for ensuring the accounting accuracy of job projections.
Manages the BUxe2x80x99s annual Budgeting process from the Financial Side, working closely with Operations Management.
Understands and explains variances between budgeted numbers and actual numbers.
Manages the relationships with the financial counterparts of our partners in any Joint Ventures.
Manages the Joint Venture accounting in his/her company.
Keeps TBG Sr. Management informed of any financial issues in his/her company.
Works with CFO and Vice President of Accounting in setting accounting policy for the BU.
Manages the day-to-day aspects of the Companyxe2x80x99s accounting function.
Prepares, analyzes and presents Financial Statements for the BU.
Provides PMxe2x80x99s and upper management with report/information to ensure that they have the necessary information to perform their jobs. Duties/Responsibilities Cont. Maintains custody of accounting records; maintains custody of appropriate historical accounting archives, ensuring compliance with TBG record retention schedule
Reviews companiesxe2x80x99 overhead
Assures work is performed legally, ethically, and in accordance with all Federal and State regulations and in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Practices
Makes accounting journal entries as necessary & appropriate to ensure the accuracy of accounting records
Forecasts the companyxe2x80x99s cash
Tracks receivables & assists company personnel with collection problems
Assists companies with evaluating credit risk of outside parties Maintains and monitors a system of internal controls Aids TBG Accounting in the preparation of schedules & provides relevant information during external financial statement audits
Sits on various committees, providing relevant insight
Assists Project Accounting and Project Support when necessary
Recruits, trains & develops personnel as needed. Conducts annual performance reviews Qualifications
Bachelorxe2x80x99s in Accounting or other Business Area, CPA preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in a public accounting or corporate accounting environment.
Ability to communicate and work effectively with others between departments and across company lines.
Familiar with large, complex mainframe accounting systems.
Proficient in creating and using complex spreadsheets.
Extensive knowledge of advanced accounting including complex consolidating entries.
Working knowledge of federal and state income taxation for corporations.

Day and overnight travel will be required as needed to support the business. Meetings at various Branch Group offices, and occasional industry-related conferences and educational events may require travel. Physical Demands
