The SVP, Finance – Transformation is an exciting new role on the cutting edge of Finance operations. This role has been created to execute on the Finance vision, focused on helping to shape the vision of Finance in the future. Execution will include simplification, streamlining and automating processes and data sources to inform efficient and accurate decision making and execution.
This position is remote, where you have the option to work from home. On occasion we may request for you to commute to our nearest office for in person engagement activities such as team meetings, training and culture events. Supported by a Finance steering committee, define vision of Finance of the Future
Lead a team in the development of a cohesive and holistic transformation journey for the Finance organization, with an emphasis on processes, tools and change management
Assess the current state of the Finance organization and its readiness to adopt new techniques and technologies
Assess the current and future state of business systems, data availability, models, reporting needs and requirements to ensure that the finance transformation is aligned with and/or helps drive business changes.
Provide competitive intelligence and a view of external best practices in areas including automation, AI, data governance and more
Set priorities for the transformation, thinking through the best use of resources and time to achieve an optimal result
Drive the implementation of the transformation roadmap/priorities, including working with teams across the Finance organization and cross-functionally at Synchrony
Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned
Bachelor’s Degree and Minimum 10+ years of finance experience, or in lieu of a degree, 14+ years of finance experience
Minimum 5 years’ experience driving decision making in a matrixed environment
Demonstrated strategic agility (ability to see ahead clearly, anticipate future consequences and trends accurately, broad knowledge and perspective, future oriented, can articulately paint credible pictures and visions of possibilities and likelihoods, can create competitive and breakthrough strategies and plans)
Demonstrated ability to analyze complex issues, develop appropriate action plans and deliver timely results
Strong communication and ability to partner with and drive change across the finance organization
Strong project management experience
Minimum 3 years’ experience managing projects and leading cross-functional teams
Minimum of 5 years’ proficient use of financial systems and analysis tools including Microsoft Office (eg. Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Prior experience transforming an organization
Experience working in customer/client facing functions
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting
Master’s degree, Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent certification
Financial modeling experience and skills
Financial services industry experience
Ability to lead projects and assignments
Conflict management skills
Comfort around higher management
Experience with financial planning software such as Hyperion
You must be 18 years or older
You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 24 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
