Position Overview:
Expertly performs routine and specialized sonography procedures of high complexity to produce quality images to physicians and other health care providers for the diagnosis, treatment, monitoring and prevention of injury or disease. Works independently, exercising sound judgment, and executing seasoned clinical skills on challenging diagnostic procedures and situations to deliver accurate results in a timely manner. Gains confidence and cooperation from the patient, their family/support group, and other healthcare providers through competent patient assessment, attentive monitoring, and effective communication. Adheres to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies and procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care. May also be responsible for performing specific procedures and/or orient other staff to the department.
Performs diagnostic ultrasound exams in the Maternal Fetal Medicine department.

Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.
Other: Graduation from an accredited formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program. or equivalent education/experience.

BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider Upon Hire
AB-Abdomen certification (optional)Fetal Echocardiography (FE) certification (optional)
OB/GYN-Obstetrics & Gynecology Upon Hire
Nuchal Translucency (NTQR or FMF)
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN
5 years requires clinical and practical experience, with at least 2 of those years in a Maternal Fetal Medicine department, as typically acquired during an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Advanced knowledge of diagnostic sonography principles, procedures, views, and equipment, including substantial experience responding to traumas, code blues, medical alerts, STAT calls, and various hospital emergencies.
Skilled in performing sonographic examinations with an extensive understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology so as to recognize, prioritize and communicate suspicious or abnormal results.
Possess written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people.
Time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadline.
Robust knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook) and related information systems (Radiology (RIS), laboratory (LIS), electronic health records (EHR), EPIC, and picture archive and communication system (PACS).
Prioritize activities and work within defined policies, procedures, and practices to achieve objectives and meet deadlines; help determine appropriate approach for new assignments.
Work independently, as well as be part of the team, including accomplishing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions.
Use experience and existing precedents or procedures to resolve atypical or infrequent problems; provide informal guidance and support to junior team members.
Ensure the privacy of each patient’s protected health information (PHI).
Build collaborate relationships with peers and other healthcare providers to achieve departmental and corporate objectives.
Pay Range: 69.8-87.25
The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
