SUMMARY: Directs and coordinates activities associated with meeting the nutritional needs of the animals at the Sheep Discovery Center. Assist the GM in the construction of the feeding system. Post construction, oversee hiring, repair, maintenance, and daily operation of feeding by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate team members.

Work with suppliers, manufactures and contracts to complete the construction of a state of the art feed kitchen.
With the assistance of a nutritionist and GM develop feed rations to be fed to ewes in each phase of production. Assist in tours of the SDC with nutritionist to continue to innovate and improve processes
Organize and manage the feed team ensuring feed is delivered timely and on schedule.
Continually thinking outside the box to help the management team improve processes and overcome challenges.
Monitors quality control of commodities received through regular inspection.
Maintains quality of feed rations by using quality ingredients, following recommendations from consulting Nutritionist and overseeing the processing of feedstuffs.
Complies with applicable OSHA, FDA, and EPA regulations; maintains appropriate compliance records.
Sets a positive example for employees by modeling safe work practices and following safety rules and policies. Communicates critical safety information to employees by conducting regular safety training; monitors workplace for unsafe/noncompliant behavior.
Develops department capital and operating budgets; manages expenses by studying historical data, anticipating needs and researching costs.
Manages department supplies inventory by researching costs, designing inventory systems, determining inventory levels, anticipating needed supplies and approving orders.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Developing a maintenance schedule and checklist to keep feed kitchen and equipment clean and in working order.
Develop SOP’s to assist in training and standardizing procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS: Associates degree or higher; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software and Database software.
Valid driver’s license.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Willingness to think outside the box and challenge the norms.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to airborne particles. The employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance and is exposed to work in high, precarious places. May be assigned to duties that require the use of a respirator. Pulmonary function test and respirator fit test would apply.
